90% of DAs site is sold on the USA site. I imagine the UK site will ship to Australia.

Are you wanting Alexandra of Kent rose? Because the rose you posted the picture is not it.

^^^^this is Princess Alexandra of Kent above.

Its a different Rose than PAoK . Its also known as The Alexandra Rose. (1992) HMF doesn't mention introduction to Australia yet
https://www.helpmefind.com/ros...
HMF provides a seller near to Australia: New Zealand:
Tasman Bay Roses: www.tbr.co.nz
I would also go my ways to get that rose. Just too far away... Sighing! , Penny

We have some nice photos of Alexandra Rose in our database:

Rose (Rosa 'Alexandra Rose')

It's bizarre that the photos in pennylord's post are of Alexandra Rose, a rose with flat single blooms, and the description below the photos is for Princess Alexandra of Kent, a rose with blooms that are cupped and have 130 petals.

I don't see any reference to Tasman Bay in the "buy from" section of the Alexandra Rose entry, Arturo.

Zuzu, I just checked again and Tasman bay roses appear in the second page of the HMF buy from tab (link you provided). If you then search for what is offered by them it again appears under the letter T: The Alexandra Rose, an alternative name for it.

I didn't check with them if they have it available. Since New Zealand is close and commerce between the two countries seem to be opening up soon, I thought that it could be a source.

That's peculiar. My "by from" only has four nurseries listed (ending with Hortico) and doesn't have a second page.

Oh, I see why mine does that. It's set to Canada instead of All Countries.

Zuzu, Now that is VERY peculiar.... D'Oh! I can't understand it. I even went back again if by chance I had misread but no, there they are listed. BTW your AlexandraRose pic is particularly striking. Is it from your yard?

I think you may be better off talking to one of the big rose societies in either NT or Queensland to see if you can obtain a cutting from someone who may have it. Importing from Japan or NZ is a real pain because of quarantine rules. The rose societies generally know all the import companies that specialise in plants too and that may be of help. You could also email David Austin Roses to see if they have any plans to introduce the rose to Australia in the future.

I had it set to Canada because I was looking for a Canadian source for a forum member and I forgot to set it back to All Countries.

Yes, I have The Alexandra Rose and it's huge! It's planted at the front of my property line, close to the street, and my mailman leaves me at least one message each year, begging me to prune it back because he doesn't want to drive through it to get to the next address on his route.

Lola,
You are stating something quite interesting at least to me... Smiling
When is enough, really enough?
I guess the answer first is very personal and unique...just like life.
With roses, it all depends what I'm searching for. Sometimes it can be a break-through in breeding for a trait that I'm looking to have here and someone in the other end of the world has found it. In that case all efforts are justified. There's always the trade-off of gain versus cost ( hassle, plus quarantine, plus down right prohibitions, plus expense etc.) Is it worth it?. The answer is personal. Sometimes one is called to impossible missions. Then one should pursue them! Hilarious! However, on the contrary one should be very honest with oneself and avoid falling into self-deceit. Following a lustful path leads to easily self-deception. The awareness between the two may even be just subtle. I guess this degree of understanding is the type of deep spiritual wisdom that arises after decades of rose growing. I'm a long way from achieving that.... Smiling : my roses are teaching me patiently on a daily basis. *Blush* As years go by and watch others tending their gardens, I feel blessed to be part of the rose growers community: silently roses are doing their teaching, while we tend to believe, otherwise the contrary. Living with my roses as part of a much wider journey has only added nuances, gracefulness and joy! Rolling my eyes.
Arturo
PS. I just rolled through your pictures of your very many DA's. Very few are available here, whilst some of mine are unavailable there. I've yet to study if there's a pattern to what was introduced where, and also when. In any case it tells about DA UK and also the way they "see" the world. Extant varieties also show which still are being grown locally. It is also a good description of local market values. DA is very much influenced by contemporary market thinking ( for the better or the worse). I tend to disagree with that view, since restricted offer is conditioning demand. But fixing that, yes , Big Grin would become a unicorn searching mission

Arturo - I can't figure out what DA are up to with their habit of not releasing roses in some countries even though they have proved popular elsewhere. Carding Mill is a rose I would love to have and I believe it would grow well here but DA seems to have no intention of making it available in Australia. There are others that have also proven to be very healthy roses that should be fine here but someone somewhere in the DA office says we can't have it, and they never give an explanation. They act like the matter is out of their hands, with "Sorry, this product is not available in Australia" as the only reply to any enquiries.

I have ceased searching for unicorns because it gets me nowhere, but that doesn't mean I don't long to accidently stumble across one in the wild one day. Smiling

Wow!
Thanks for replies.
I've tried to find directly with DA with no success. The search engines have also proved to be unsuccessful as ive emailed all the individual nurseries/growers listed and no one has. I've also tried the Rose Socities in Aust. I'll double check that NZ place. I was hoping someone may have seen one randomly! I know I live in Darwin but have family in both the UK and USA I'd could sent to. You're right, getting in Aus may be Difficult (if I even found it!). The Alexandra Rose is different to the Princess Alexandra of Kent Rose: DA also calls it AUSDAY. I've a friend who grows the PA of K rose and it's stunning. The Alexandra Rose is named after the Danish Princess who became Queen consort in then UK, Queen Alexandra. She Set up Alexandra Rose Day. A charity to feed the hungry. The Alexandra Rose is its symbol and people boughten them. Not sure when DA came into the picture. PA of K Rose is name after the current queens cousin.
I'm prepared to chase this unicorn for a while. I recently lost a pregnancy and her name would have been Alexandra. I'd love one planted somewhere so I have a little persona memorial and something to watch grow and enjoy.
Thanks for all yr help! I'll reread
And make sure I've tried all the suggestions.

I'm sorry for your loss. I'd send you a cutting if I could. It's a very sweet rose and knowing both stories makes it even more so.

Penny,
Wondering if there could be a different rose available there with the same name, I bumped into this 'Alexandra Pink Tea' that is a found (discovered) rose in Australia. See in HMF, these are gardens that have it listed ( some use thealternative Madame de Tartas, others Isabel Smith):
https://www.helpmefind.com/ros...

Locally here, we can buy a beautiful Harkness rose called 'Alexandra' bred in 1972 that appears in an Australian garden too:

I hope it helps. Group hug
