Blue Silk Kikyo seedlings have nice green color. They grow ever so slowly.

Yes! I also like how the cotyledons are tilting so the light can get to the developing leaves.

Here is a volunteer seedling that came up in an Ipomoea elongata container. It could be any number of things but it is probably Ipomoea purpurea. It will be challenging to grow if I leave it in the same pot as elongata because I was trying to keep the soil dry so as to not rot the roots. I think Ipomoea elongata is a tuber maker.

Here is another batch of Ipomoea nil seedlings to enjoy this winter. The parent plant was yellow leaf , blue speckled reverse tube flower type, grown last in 2011.

I used to have a small collection of African "Violets".
They were more like the usual kind, except they really had nice big flowers. One, was Garnet color, with Picotee, & another was " double", while one had appeared as if the blooms had tiny ice crystals, the way it sparkled.

I'm now trying to grow some nil seedlings, too. This winter has been rather cloudy, & more so than usual.
I also made the error of not moving the window screen, upwards! That tends to block some light, too. I figured, I may as well. At least, I tend to manage to collect some seeds a bit more easily, if they ripen early !
Summer just seems to get so hot, & easily lasts into October.

Good luck with yours, Joseph.

I like the usual AVs. I always pause to look at them at the supermarket. Your garnet/picotee/double sounds awesome! Do you recall the cultivar name? Was it an Optimara cultivar?

Yes, they were some of the more difficult to obtain Optimara varieties. I do wish I could recall the names of them.
Perhaps you can look around the Optimara website, & find what you like.

I used to grow African Violets. I loved them and had some very old ones from my mom and my grandmother. I had to toss them all after they got horribly infected with mealies while I was on a vacation. I tried treating them, but had to give up. If you see any, get rid of them quickly!

I'm fairly certain, one was an Optimara, named 'Nancy', which appears to have been in the Rhapsodies series.

I then went to the avsa.org to page 5 (for R). Then I saw a Richter's Green Dawn Lrgtt, & it actually appeared to be much more like that one !

Because, the one I had was large pink, very ruffled, & slightly green on undeveloped blooms.

Maybe it was an honest mistake, although I don't know for certain, if that one from Richter's is old enough, to be it.
While Optimara's Rhaphsodies (series ?) Nancy was from 1988, & therefore has been around, for long enough.

Nancy, must still be rather fairly popular (After all these years !) , as I saw leaves offered, for $8. (No idea of minimum order, or cost of shipping.)
Though I still think Richter's appeared to be more like it, although the blooms did get rather large, on Nancy.
Which I did not verify the bloom size for Richter's pink ruffled one, which did resemble it more...

Man, I thought there were a lot of MG cultivars but AVs have MGs beat, hands down. One that caught my eye was Marina, which had a color pattern similar to this Ipomoea purpurea only the AV had bigger color blobs.
