Wow but 2020 was unkind to bearded iris here in North Carolina. It rained in record breaking amounts which broke the souls of my iris. They died in record numbers. So I dug up and potted a lot of them, and potted my new incoming iris too. Still lost some more but there are also many survivors that decided to hang on and have started to put up blooms.

The season started almost a month later than usual with my first bloom opening on April Fools Day, which seems appropriate for how foolish we can all become over our iris!

The bloom you ask, hoping I get to the pictures and stop jabbering, was......

Dragon's Den SDB (Chapman) looking glorious in the full sun. It is quite pale in the shade.

Good start to your seasons, Leslie, and Gabe. Can't wait to see more of your blooms as they open. Gabe it's been a while since you've been on here, hope all is going well with you. Smiling

Life threw a couple of curve balls here and there over the last year. Nothing major just human stuff lol. I had to weam myself of my iris addiction some. I haven't visited a website, page, or opened a catalog in almost 2 years after some major iris losses and then even more.

I think I'm a little more organized in life now and can start back on some other things like posting to here. I've also been idmiring Louisiana iris alot more lately since they thrive in our warmer wetter conditions. Speaking ok..

LA iris Jean Betzer me thinks

My LA section along the house just got weeded as well. Just finishing up and I'm going to pre emergent, fertilize and mulch. I let it go after fall planting 2020 and what a mess. Honestly ashamed, but we're all human. Flip side the plants are beast!! Feeling motived now and taking my garden back. Shout out to my mom today!

Same here. I also looked at your want list hoping you had listed what you lost, but I do have a couple on your want list.

Some have stalks and 3 have bloomed. I found maybe 8 that frost bloomed this winter D'Oh! a waste. Otherwise just good growth. And yes to the Iris City order last year! That was my very last iris order to date.

As far as replacements, for now I'll have to take a pass. As much as I miss so many I never even saw bloom I'm just looking forward. Oh, I still have stock! Just super heavily reduced. LA's aren't dieing and I have far more of those than I could imagine.

I believe I received Boston Cream 2 years ago and wow to the wow! Major clump alert! I think I shared this on another thread or Facebook already but these were pics taken today. She's settled down after bloom and a major stunner loaded with buds!

Cheery Blush is very pretty!

There is one thing you can say about Donald Spoon - he sure names his dwarfs well.
Blue Hues is definitely blue - from first opening through being pollen covered.

It has lime green haft marks too!

I really like Tasco's Fancy Sparkler, though it did have to fight through serious pine pollen this year.

This is the dutch iris Montecito. It reminds me a lot of spuria iris. Quite tall too at almost 4 feet.
