I had this vine a few years ago and it died before it bloomed. I thought it was a passiflora but I'm not sure. I did start it from seed.. Does anyone recognize this leaf.

I don't think it's incarnata. The leaves were too narrow. And they are individual leaves rather than a lobed leaf.

Hmmmm....could it be some sort of grape vine? I am not familiar with things that grow up North, it doesn;t look like the type of grape we have here but kind of resembles one called Summer Grape

I don't think its a Passiflora of any kind - as Roxanne pointed out, palmately compound not lobed leaves.

Are all the leaves that size? Does it ever bloom? Can you post photos of more of the plant?

@Gina1960 I used to live in the North, and this is definitely not a grapevine.

well, I don't know what it is I am all out of (not so helpful) ideas

When/why did it die? Did it live through a winter and then die, indicating not a hardiness issue in zone 6?

Did it have clasping tendrils?
I don't think it was any kind of Passiflora. It reminds me of one of the less-common species of Cardiospermum.

Do you have any other photos of the plant? What color were the seeds that you grew it from, and where did you obtain these seeds from?

Yes, when I re-read, I saw that but didn't change my post as it was a moot point and didn't change any of the facts related to an ID.

It was a few years ago and I don't remember why it died. It was potted and I put it in my greenhouse which gets down to 40 sometimes. That was probably the problem. I bought the seeds somewhere so I'll just have to see if I can figure out where. I just remember I really liked the look of the vine and I've wanted to grow it again. If I figure anything out I'll post here again. Thanks for trying to help!!

Ok. Now I've been digging around thru tons of vine pics on google, and I think Hawaiian Woodrose just might be it. What do you think??

It doesn't look close, your plant has palmately compound leaves, not simple like these

Yesterday I was looking through photos of Distimake/Merremia but hadn't found a perfect match.

Do you have another photo of another leaf by chance?

Are those (circled) extrafloral nectaries. ?
If yes, those paired gland on petioles are common in Passiflora. The palmatisect leaves reminds me of Passiflora caerulea, most of time their leaves are not divided right through to the petioles, but some times they do. It could also be other kind of Passiflora sp though.

Apparently Passiflora cincinnata may have palmately compound leaves but none of the pictures I found show a lobed central leaflet.
