Looking over my collection.
1st. one is E. Kibwezensis Crested. Really hard to root this one. First few rotted for me.


E. pseduocactus. Removed top section last year and may have to cut 6 more inches off.

This is a cutting off my crested E. lactea. I get both green and white.


E. Greenwayii. Slow grower.


My fat rooted Euphorbia buruana. Got 6 of them, Giving some away.


My crested Euphorbia lactea. Middle one is rotting but has many nice pieces that will grow into a nice plant. I don't need any more so giving lots of cuttings away.


So for now I'm giving (for postage only) a few E. Buruana and E. Lactea crest pieces.

If i could, id get the greenwayii, slow or not. its one of the better looking euphorbias from what ive seen.

If it ever comes up on the 'giveaway' list, I'd love a piece of E. greenwayii too and put me on the list for E. buruana. Thank you!

I used to have a large euphorbia collection, but got rid of them after a painful and expensive experience from getting the latex in my eyes. Please beware of the dangers they pose if not handled carefully.

So far the E. greenwayii stays up right unlike a lot of the similar looking types. Seems once they get to a foot tall, they want to lay down. I use wooden skewers to help hold them upright.
I think I saw some E. Knuthii forming a caudex over time. Stem cutting take a lot longer to form caudex. Some say they never form a caudex but only fat roots. Well, I have a hard time telling the difference.
Daisy, on list for a E. buruana. Maybe I can part with a small stem cutting of E. greenwayii.

Dirtdigger, I understand. Seems I have been lucky. Sap has little effect on me but I don't take it for granted. Wash every time messing with them. Also with small kids and animals it is not advised.

I'd love to be put on a list to have one of the E. buruana.

I don't have good pictures because I'm at work, but if any US addresses want a cutting of Euphorbia enterophora (AKA Euphorbia xylophylloides) I can definitely spare a few because mine is becoming a small bush about 3 feet wide. I'm having surgery Wednesday so I will mail them out Tuesday, just let me know.

Quick tips for Euphorbia cutters everywhere (on top of the previous warning and recommendations, which I would take seriously)... wear gloves, eye protection, whatever you need to stay safe. The sap is much more dangerous (and goes more unexpected places) when it is fresh and liquid. You can use ice cold water as a way to congeal the sap and stop the flow faster after you take a cutting, and thus minimize your exposure on that end. Dip the cutting in there after you take it and give the cold water a minute or two to do the magic.

Yeah, I repotted my big Madagascan one about a month ago and the reason I didn't take cuttings at that time was because I was already sitting down on the porch covered in dirt and didn't want to get up and go find my gloves! lol

Baja, Good advise. I did just that the last time I took cuttings and surprisingly it works. Stopped the sap from oozing out.

It shouldn't be surprising. Cold liquids always move slower than warm liquids. That's why we put ice on an injury to keep it from bruising. It slows blood flow into the surrounding tissues. A similar (or even identical) concept is at-play here.

Do you, by chance, have another piece of Orbia semitubiflora? Mine rooted and grew branches and then it was gone. I think my pot was too deep. Sorry! I feel bad I killed it.

Hi Stush! I still have the Euphorbia lactea you gave me a couple of years ago and it has been growing nicely here. I really like to try the caudex forming one, your Euphorbia buruana, if it is still available.

And though not technically a euphorbia, the related jatropha podagarica with its new growth.

Stefan, Your last picture jatropha. I have a seedling that came from nowhere and looks similar. Hard to take a picture due to it is growing with a huernia. Once it gets a little bigger, I'll seperate it to it's own pot.






It is already has a fat base to it and what looks like little flowers. May be a weed but one I never saw before. Complete mystery how I get seedlings growing that could no way get here. I have several other ones that mystify me.

Thanks Stush! I learned a lot from the Euphorbia lactea you gave me before. It is such a learning curve for the Euphorbias. I am still guilty of exposing some other euphorbia types to too much sun so they get some sunburn, but I love their resilience. It took me awhile to understand their warm temperature needs and the corresponding stepped up watering they want during our very long dry months. I am dreading the triple digits though. At times it is really just too much dry heat, all I can do is hope I have cooled down the roots of my succulents here enough for them to sustain the heat wave.
