Does anyone grow any flats? Saw it in a friend's garden yesterday. Intro in 1950 by Ballard. I find it intriguing....![]() I've sent Dave a T-mail to get it on the data base. Paul Smith Pleasant Grove, Utah |

Never knew any grew like that. Will have to look for them, I like the form. Thanks for posting! Moderation in all things…except chocolate, coffee...and potato chips. |
I love the flatties. Sue's growing Japanesque, my favorite. The closest thing I have to a flattie is Judy Mogil, a TBI with a "flattie" appearance. |

With me, I do not like them as iris are 3 up 3 down. Saying that when I was doing my one on one Judges Training to become a judge, Barry found out I did not like them so in Keith's garden I had to judge them. After a couple I found I could judge even tho I do not have one flattie... D Denise Stewart 541-259-2343 Snowpeak <url>http://snowpeakiris.com</http> |

I don't care for them at all. Looks like an iris which someone sat on. |

I had NEW PERSPECTIVE at one point, but I didn't care for it -- the top three (are they the standards?) wanted to go about half-way up rather than laying flat, and that's my #1 gripe with standards -- I don't care for the ones that spread or "blow" open. So someone else gave it a good home. Paul, I believe that when you want something added to the database you click on "Add a new plant to the Database," or something like that. And I believe it's Dee who approves it and gets it in the listing, as long as it's been registered. Betty |
I found this listing on the TWiki: http://wiki.irises.org/bin/vie... I notice the bearded are all TB. Are there other classes of bearded that are flat? Evan |

I have requested that it be added to the data base. I do not care for the looks of New Perspective but like the exotic look of Rythm. Paul Smith Pleasant Grove, Utah |
Rhythm is already in the database, Paul. You're misspelling it as 'Rythm.' Tall Bearded Iris (Iris 'Rhythm') |

I think New Perspective is pretty. It looks like a chiffon party dress. |
Evan, I think it's interesting that the TWiki link you provided includes Judy Mogil as one of the flatties, but misspells it 'JudyMogul.' Surely there couldn't be a second iris with that variation of the name, could there? Odd for a site as authoritative as that one to make that kind of error, I think. |
I like New Perspective too, Polly, and I love Sue's photos of it. The flatties remind me of Japanese irises. That's why I like them so much, I suppose. |

There are quite a few mistakes on the iris wiki. It's only as good as the people inputting. Many are excellent, some a little haphazard, I think. Plus, it grew so fast, I'm sure it's going to take a lot of time to check for errors. |

Now I am embarrassed and a poor speller. ![]() ![]() ![]() Paul Smith Pleasant Grove, Utah |
But so's Wiki, and it probably doesn't have the grace to be embarrassed. ![]() At least now you know the entry's already there. |

This is why Polly and I work hard at keeping this as much correct as possible... D Denise Stewart 541-259-2343 Snowpeak <url>http://snowpeakiris.com</http> |
And you're both doing a great job! ![]() |

Intresting ,I agreee. |

Paul, not to be embarrassed. I've often told my husband I wished they had a spell check for plants. You can't believe how long it took me to remember how to spell typhifolia. |
