This rose has been outside the public loos in Deloraine for as long as I can remember. I would love to know it's name so I can try to order it here before resorting to taking a cutting in the dead of night. It is between 3 - 4ft high and wide. I don't know if it has a scent as my nose is too busy with hayfever to notice. It gets BS but still blooms well.

I have no clue what it is but it sure is a pretty one!

It is in the centre of town so I will take a cutting early on a Sunday morning before anyone is around. The cutting I did of Charles Rennie Mackintosh that was looking fabulous is now in the ground and struggling. The one of Windermere that I thought was dead but I put in the ground anyway, is flowering now. I'm not good with cuttings but I really want this rose so I will try to get some going.

It doesn't have enough petals to be SI, but it does look like an Austin. I will go through the Austin catalogue to see if I can find it.

It looks like Comtes des Champagne to me.

I've got CdC and although some of the blooms look similar it is not it. CdC starts off yellow then gradually fades through pink to white. Some of the blooms on CdC have more petals than others but the mystery rose has blooms that are all the same. Perhaps it isn't an Austin? I've looked through their website and only Desdemona and The Shepherdess are similar in some respects but it is not them either.

Yes, Desdemona's too new (introduced in 2015), and even The Shepherdess (2007) might be too new if this rose has been there for as long as you can remember. Maybe it's one of Amanda Beales' shrubs. They're more likely to have a simple bloom like this one than the Austins are.

I can't find anything on Beales roses being available here. I guess it will have to remain a mystery unless I find the person who planted it for the local council way back when.

OK, Lola, totally off topic here. I just saw pictures of a Quokka. They are different than your Pademelon? Are they related? The Quokka seems smaller than your Pademelon. Do you have Quokka's too?

It reminds me of pictures of Belle story. There's also another Austin I've seen I'll have to look it up.

Mustbnuts - Quokkas are related to my pademelons and to all marsupials. Quokkas are the happiest and friendliest creatures on the planet. They have no fear of humans and will happily pose for selfies with tourists. Quokkas live on Rottnest Island and a couple of smaller islands on the Western Australian coast.

Vaporvac - I have Belle Story and it's not that. It is more peach in colour.

Kniphofia - It looks remarkably like your database photos of JDP except it doesn't have any red in the centre. Does JDP have a peachy colour rather than pink? Does it sometimes not have red in the centre?

I think the aging blooms are more likely to have the red centre.

I've been to town and had a good look at the rose and it is not JDP. It has a strong rose perfume and is definitely peach coloured fading to white.
