If you click on Plants Database and then Search by Name, you will see a short menu of choices. One of them is Add a Plant. This will take you to another screen where you can propose a plant addition. It's always a good idea to search the database first to see if the plant is already there. I usually do a search using only the cultivar name. That way, if I don't have the correct botanical name, due to a change in classification or a misspelling, I might still find the plant. You will need a link to a site that has the plant for sale or some other evidence of the plant's existence to finish your proposal.

If you run into problems with your proposal, you can always start a thread in the Plant Database forum, where one of our administrators will help you either find the plant in the database or get it added.

Hope this helps.

Thanks. I tried adding one myself, since it wasnt in the database, and was asking me for cultivar, trade name, series...I have no clue. I did add the URL to show the cultivar, and it wont accept the info. Ill see if I can find the Plant Database forum and just ask for someone to add it. Thanks.

I could be wrong, but I think you can add a plant with just the Accepted Botanical Name (genus species) and Cultivar.

For adding new plants to the database, you have to supply the following information for the database administrators such as:

Primary common name: Tropical Hibiscus

Accepted botanical name (Genus species):Hibiscus rosa-sinensis

Cultivar Name: Texas Girl, High Voltage, War and Peace etc. (Do not use"quote marks")

Note to Moderator. Mandatory to include a URL to verify the plant exists. Copy and paste a link to the site where you found the plant.
