Sorry to hear about the concurrent foot injuries I hope both of them mend swiftly. For what it's worth I didn't notice at the clinic so the wounds were hidden well!
Since I was forced to leave the party early Saturday I didn't get to hear who all participated in the seedling comparison. I know Julia and Lynn brought plants but who else made a contribution? I got a good look at all the semps, but (I assume for objectivity's sake) the names weren't listed by the plants. Julia and Lynn both brought keepers, but there were some other nice ones there to, like that pretty pink-purple.

Besides Lynn and Julia, Karen and Roger and Melissa brought seedlings for evaluation. Melissa took the prize for the BIGGEST semps around. The vote was split between about 6 seedlings with the winner getting 6 or 7 of the total to Julia's neat seedling. It was my pick too.

Next year we hope to have MORE neat ones to compete. I will NOT compete since it's not quite fair with the contest being in my yard.

Hopefully the Quick Start is FLOWING in many gardens!!

My seedlings have already grown a good but. Most in the first row outs are dime or nickel size. They get their next fertilizer dose tomorrow.

Nice, thanks guys. It's interesting to hear who's involved right now. I found myself wishing I'd asked more folks about their process. Maybe next time

Thanks Lynn, hopefully I'll have something big enough to be judged by then. One of my plants is disturbingly larger than the rest right now, worst case scenario I'll bring that one Hilarious! .

Well, it looks like winter may be past in CO and I have a few survivors:
Not nearly as pretty as the ones everyone has been showing off here, but mean a lot to me because they are living.
I need to get out and clean them up but thought I would share them with you so you would know I have not given up entirely.
Tenderheid I think

Is the heuffelii saveable? I have one in the same condition and was wondering. It is the "NOT" Apache, a really nice h. I was about to toss it...

Yes, it can be saved Connie. Just clean all the dead stuff off and set it on new soil in a place with bright light, but not direct sun. It will start sending out new white roots. Once it has roots you can mist it until the roots make it into the soil.

Glad to see you and the plants still trying, Marilyn! Thank goodness semps aren't that costly and how many pretty ones does one need to see everyday to be happy?
I just need an 'Ohio Burgundy', a 'Aymon Correvon', a 'Dr. Fritz Kohlein' , a 'Grunrand', a 'Pachamama', a 'Spinner' and a 'Saharasonne' to keep me happy!

(Please don't check my plant list.)
