Hi I don't know what kind of plant this is and how to care. I know this is a tropical plant and it's hairy purple and green.

If it is indeed a Pilea, then that location is okay, it just needs indirect light/part shade. It likes good humidity levels, so maybe that is why the leaves looks a bit lackluster right now, with indoor heaters running drying out the plant faster.

Episcia. The top of the pot is getting zero usable light. Can you lower it a couple feet?

I agree, your plant appears to be Flame Violet (Episcia cupreata) Many have very colorful leaves and blooms are an added pretty bonus!

Photos of many different hybrids here: http://www.gesneriads.info/gen...

More information on this page: http://www.missouribotanicalga...

Episcia's require bright shade, warmth and humidity.
