Huh...I just noticed...the camellias are starting...raining, storming, frosting, gale force winds, they don't care, they say it's time to bloom...and I'm especially happy since I noticed last year that the hummingbirds get nectar from them....had no idea....and they don't have much to choose from lately...

The wasps may also be nearby so watch out for them. Camellia Japonicas start blooming from December thru April so that is what yours probably is. Camellia Sasanquas start in the Fall though. Enjoy your variegated blooms!

I've learned to like the Camellias...I did not think that likely, but.....

hahahahaha...Oh, Dick...that's too funny...I was going to say that I don't think we have wasps, but I KNOW we have Yellow Jackets because I dug into a nest summer before last. I've only experienced those twice in my life...in Fallbrook I was watering when I found out what they are and what they do....WTH? then here, summer before last I dug into my mound-o-sod to plant something and ohh, geez, there they were....lol..this past summer I made sure to do my digging in that spot before I spotted any of them there...
