There are patterns here, that I hardly could imagine were possible a few years ago.

These blow my socks off, so hats off to Thomas (and socks too for that matter). Hurray! Hurray! Hurray!

Jan..Thank You ! I really enjoyed his catalog this year also and Wow what a selection Smiling

Diana.. I was thrilled they all made it through the winter we were mild with no snow until Mid January and then record setting cold and snowfall so they got a real test this year. The 3 you mentioned are good choices I have my eye on them also especially like Sussidio and Beautician.

Tom.. He has some wonderful things coming from Truth Or Dare that pansy pattern is showing up in all kinds of different colors Smiling I always get excited when we find something that passes a certain trait on to it's kids opens our the door for lot's of possibilities. Smiling

Monty.. Your Welcome and your right he has really made some advances especially in the lined pattern so many good things to come in the future.

William.. I had the same thoughts walking his seedling rows Drooling Sticking tongue out I thought he could have easily introduced many more they were that good.

Les.. I really liked the 1st one also and it had a stem Smiling good chance it will have a future very neat color in the garden along with the others very unique flowers and I would love to have them growing here Crossing Fingers! they are impressive this year.

Lucy.. Very hard for me to pick a favorite as I liked so many of the new intro's from Thomas but Sussidio would be top 3 the color of it really stands out in the garden and it looked to have excellent growth. I have been really impressed with Paul's work on Plicata's the intro's from the past 2 years are wonderful (Steal Your Heart) was really impressive a perfect plant Stems, loaded with Buds, and good growth. He has been working on getting a line of them that are late blooming and I'm excited to with some of his at home after this winter I can say they are midwest hardy Smiling

M is my favorite of this group.

The colors remind me of a lovely wedding I went to. It was unique. The bride was a widow. The groom was adored by her 3 teenaged sons. She said ok to marrying him "someday". The sons and groom set up the entire wedding. One son even got a pastor's license through an online course. While mom was vacationing with "the girls", the invitations were sent. Mom came home to find out she was getting married in 2 months. Rolling on the floor laughing The tan and blue in that iris match the wedding colors that "the boys" picked out. 5 years later, they are still married and enjoying new grandbabies.

"M" does have beautiful coloring. After reading the above, I think Surprise Wedding or Wedding Surprise would be a great name. What a beautiful story Diana.

Of course, I can't pick just a couple I like best, so my picks are: A, D, F, G, I, J, N, and R.
I and N would be at the top of my list.

Tom and the rest who do crosses. I am sure you get to a point that you have no more space to do crosses and or have ones you don't like. What do you do with the ones you don't like, don't want to keep or need to move to make room for a new group of crosses? Just curious, and sorry if its been asked before.

You dig them up and discard them. I just toss mine out into the lawn and the lawnmower eventually mulches them. You should see Keith Keppel's garden. He has a pile of discarded seedlings the size of a small haystack.

Rob... Big Grin nodding you are correct and it will get worse every year .

Diana.. That is an awesome story Thanks for sharing !

Barbara.. Great name for a unique flower Ill pass it along to Thomas maybe if it gets named he will use it Smiling This group of seedlings was a lot of fun would love to have a few of each to line out in one of the berms and watch them all bloom together lots of different colors and patterns in this group.

Jane.. It was a favorite too I enjoy that color pattern and fun to see it get improved a little each year especially liked G because of the yellow rim and the bright orange beard Smiling

Richard.. I see lots of commercial gardens with piles of seedlings that are left to compost that doesn't work here as it could lead to Borer breeding grounds so any unwanted seedlings get tossed in the dumpster here. We can't keep them all if I don't enjoy something anymore or it doesn't bloom consistently it's gone and I'm on to the next one.

Tom.. Thanks for the comments Smiling always fun to read everyone's thoughts on these we all have different things that catch our attention the petticoat seedling was one that jumped out at me the color combination with the blue beards just popped out in the rows Smiling it will make a great garden plant. I stopped and admired it and the next day Dad came over and walked me back over to it and said look at that Smiling so it got 2 thumbs up here wish it was in my petticoat seedlings at home most of my seedlings have shown purples/pink blends but not the blue look in the standards and the beards to go with it.

Quite a few of these pictures show the flowers with open standards and I don't think that is the case he had lot's of friends there visiting and Hybridizing so it was hard to get a picture of fresh flowers especially some of the newer ones because the group was working them Smiling There was one pink one that I hoped to get a good picture of but it was pillaged as soon as the flower opened Big Grin Hoping this year I can get some beauty shots of it because it was Outstanding !

I think the majority of this group has been around for awhile and they will be making decisions on them soon for introduction once again another very good group that are advancements in form on a lot of different colors (N) in particular looked like it belonged in Santa Cruz in Joe's garden with the fimbriated bubble ruffling Smiling we both liked that one. I also thought (A) was very good it seemed to have everything beautiful form and a perfect stem, I kept going back looking at (B) again also loved the color blends on it from fresh flower to aged.
