One month gone, eleven still to be enjoyed this year. While some gardeners are experiencing the alarming effects of the polar vortex, others are enjoying the earliest signs of the coming spring. My garden is a mixed bag this month. The upper level of the landscape is bleak. Most of the trees haven't leafed out yet, and their branches look stark and ungainly. The garden beds, however, are full of daffodils, azaleas, and camellias in bloom, so I'm keeping my eyes trained on this lower level. This month's thumbnail photo is from the zodiac. I have a birthday in February and I have several Aquarius bushes because friends have assumed (correctly) that this rose bush is the perfect birthday gift for me. |

Zuzu - I think Hortico is offering Aquarius...and whenever I see a picture of it, I really want to have it. Yours is beautiful...if only there were fragrance!!! But at least I get to see your picture of it. Happy Birthday Zuzu!!!! You are our Houzz angel ![]() I'm 5 1/2 to 6 months away from blooms...sigh. Although you never know, with the warming trends...it could be earlier. |

Happy Birthday, zuzu! I've always thought Aquarius looked like a beautiful rose, but I've never had it, pretty picture. I'm about 3 months away from having rose blooms, waiting with anticipation! |

February starts and I was stuck between a rock and a hard place. ![]() It's a rose!!! It has nothing to do with life and death. |
Sounds like you did the right thing. Good luck with your surgery and with your roses. |

I wish a great start to the new month to everyone and happy birthday to Zuzu! That Aquarius rose looks fantastic! I started the month with the flu so I am just today able to look at the computer without getting dizzy. ![]() |

Happy Birthday, Zuzu! Aquarians are the best! ; ) Sorry you were sick bunny. That's always a drag, especially being too sick to look at the computer! : ( |

Sounds like you did the best thing for the roses, Ken. Hope your surgery is a great success and you can get back out to your roses real soon. Thank you for the wishes, Bunny, and feel better! Happy Birthday, Zuzu! |

Happy Birthday Zu !!! |
I love this! Thank you very much for all the birthday wishes. My birthday actually is in the middle of the month, but since I mentioned it in the first post of the month I'll get good wishes for weeks. ![]() |

@Zuzu, actually when you first mentioned your birthday it was Feb 2..that same day that you joined ATP in 2010 ( according to your profile) so there's a reason to celebrate there too! Well I'm awaiting Feb 15 and wish your birthday. Arturo |
You're right, Arturo. It was the anniversary of my NGA membership. February 2, 2010, actually was the date I joined Cubits, but all of the Cubits members became ATP members (and now NGA members) when the ATP site was created about a year and a half later. I also have another important February anniversary. I first came to this country on February 5, 1953. |
