We came from here The thread "Happy New Year πππΎ and our Orchid Blooms in January 2019" in Orchids forum We had a great month of January, and here we are on Febr 1. and with that we start a new thread! Let's go! ![]() My Ludisia discolor gives us great pleasure this year in the living room, together with my new Rlc George King 'Serendipity'. ![]() Lycaste Phoebe is a cute little deciduous Orchids with "windswept" blooms ![]() ![]() ![]() The buds on my Laelia anceps needed almost daily soaking to open - when it is very cold outside, the humidity in the greenhouse drops fairly quickly, that doesn't help. ![]() ![]() Rhyncattleanthe Psycho Bride opened a cute spike, what a crazy name! ![]() Please all join in and most importantly, have fun! added - I am not sure if this is indeed Psycho Pride 'NN' |

Psycho Bride?? Man that is beautiful! Awardable!! You bloom Lycastes too? Oh my. Here is my contribution. This is Paphiopedilum Voodoo Jewel. It is a hybrid of Paphiopedilum Voodoo Crazy 'Pink Flame' X Paphiopedilum Jewel Green 'Greenery'. ![]() I just love this type of slipper! This is a full 10cm. wide or 4" on a 20" cm. tall inflorescence which is 8". So it is kind of compact since many of the callosum types can get leggy or tall. The dorsal is 5.9 cm. wide, white with rose blush and veins along the outer edges, it is heavily blushed green centrally with green veins. Petals are green, blushed rose apically with random dark brown/mauve spots or warts; synsepal white with green veins; pouch is bright green overlaid heavily with burgundy. It is in a 3" square pot with a mix of aliflor, orchiata, charcoal and sponge rock. This is awardable in my opinion and I just have to get it to a Judging. Well maybe next time because we are moving our Judging this month to Cleveland for their show. "Our children are the messages we send to a time that we will never see." |
Bill, that is a gorgeous Paph! Very showy!! |

Thanks Ursula! Like I said I think that these are pretty. Now I will have to see if I can bloom them again! "Our children are the messages we send to a time that we will never see." |
Surely you will! |

Wow, January flew by. I love that Psycho, Ursula. But I love pastels and particularly those with contrasting shades. drdawg (Ken Ramsey) - Tropical Plants & More http://www.tropicalplantsandmo... I don't have gray hair, I have wisdom-highlights. I must be very wise. |

I'm loving the colors on the 'Psycho Bride' too, but that George King! Wow, what huge flowers on a small plant! Today I finally have the tiny white flowers open on my little Latouria Den. It's been hanging fire for weeks, and I guess 4 days in the warmth of the house finally encouraged it, enough. The flowers are only about an inch across, but very nice, with a tiny bit of pink in spots on the backs. Six spikes in the works ![]() ![]() ![]() Also, a nice surprise, my three little Tolumnias have survived from my last visit to Apopka (must be 2 years ago now) and all three are sending out spikes, too! I've been spraying them diligently with spinosad, must be helping I guess. ![]() Elaine "Success is stumbling from failure to failure with no loss of enthusiasm." βWinston Churchill |

Cuties, Elaine. Still a (mostly) waiting game here. drdawg (Ken Ramsey) - Tropical Plants & More http://www.tropicalplantsandmo... I don't have gray hair, I have wisdom-highlights. I must be very wise. |

Oh Elaine, nice job with that little Latouria. When those buds open, WOW!!! Those little Tolumnias are bug magnets. No doubt about it. "Our children are the messages we send to a time that we will never see." |
Elaine, very cute! You did great with the Tolumnia, I gave up on them.... |

Ursula, I love your Psycho Bride but looking at pictures of mine .. I don't see similarities.. ![]() lindsey |
Oh oh! Perhaps mine is misidentified? I forgot to mention mine is supposed to be the 'NN' clone. I just looked it up, yours looks like the ones I image-googled. It seems my id is surely wrong. You know, the first thing I thought when it just opened, was that it reminds me a bit of a loddegesii hybrid, like Crystelle Smith with a darker lip. |

Ursula, did you add that 'NN' when you Googled her? I have had numerous 'NN' varieties, and they were certainly different than those without the 'NN'. Lindsey, does your plant have the 'NN'? By the way, I used to purchase hundreds of orchids each year from Newman's Nursery in HI, and of course, that's the 'NN'. drdawg (Ken Ramsey) - Tropical Plants & More http://www.tropicalplantsandmo... ![]() Yes Ken, it does lindsey |
Ken, no, the 'NN' is on the tag, I just forgot to include it. I bought the plant from Marlow Orchids, I will talk to them. Surely the tag was simply switched. |

Unfortunately, though I have purchased probably 60 varieties from Newman's Nursery, that particular variety is not one of them. And I haven't seen your flower from any of mine either. Otherwise, I would be able to help you out with an ID. drdawg (Ken Ramsey) - Tropical Plants & More http://www.tropicalplantsandmo... I don't have gray hair, I have wisdom-highlights. I must be very wise. |
I agree, I looked too. It was probably switched at Marlow Orchids. No problem, I will hopefully see them this weekend at the Deep Cut OS Show. |
