I have become convinced that this is some kind of variegated clone of Aechmea blanchetiana

@hiyall great informative video, thanks for posting. I found the glass vase idea interesting, especially since it was recently discussed here.

@ScotTi Scott, your Red Ribbon is nice, I actually bought a single cutting at a Bromeliad Society sale a year ago, it now is just now starting first flower, so good to see what the flower will look like, getting it's second offset too, so pretty prolific, can't wait till it looks like your plant. Thumbs up

Gina I agree your plant does look like some sort of A. blanchetiana, has it flowered yet? I have one, has three plants now, but still haven't had a flower.

@sunkissed, I have had this plant for at least 15 years. I bought it when we lived at the old house in town, before we moved to this house in 2003 and I brought it with me. We had gone down South to go see some friends and go to the Fairchild Ramble and took a trip out to Excelsa Gardens at Loxahachee, and went back up through Sarasota so I could go to Tropiflora. I bought this plant then. I am almost POSITIVE they told me it was an Ae. blanchettiana. They told me it was very hardy but in an extreme cold spell it would get damaged. Said put it in full sun for best color. I have long since lost the tag, and have no more in containers anyway....it pups very readily and I have divided it a lot and they are all planted out in the yard, and have never even had a scratch from frost or freeze. But no, never a bloom. Some of them are quite large, but they have a more prostrate habit, not the stiff upright habit of most Ae. blans. I have 2 others, Wally Berg and Orangeade. This plant has a different growth habit from them. But the coloring is almost the same. Except for the variegation. I think it may be a hybrid or an old clone of Ae. blan. I have tried asking Tropiflora to ID it for me, but they do not answer my email. I may have to take a pup down there next month and say, 'I got this from you about 15 years ago what the heck is it?'

Wow 15 years and no flower, that's odd. I've only had mine about three years, was a small offset gifted from a friend, I don't know what kind it is, sort of orange coloring and can get pink tips in winter, it now has three offsets almost as big as mom.
