Let's talk about Heleniums. I currently only have 'Double Trouble' and 'Mardi Gras.' I just divided them to make more. 'Double Trouble' is so easy to propagate! What Heleniums do you recommend? I need more varieties to bloom when everything else is finished. |
I also have a few Mardi Gras . Great plant. Would like to get Tiny Dancer. |
Bob - I wanted that one last year and forgot it. Thanks for reminding me. It is just the type of plant I need and I have a spot just for it! |
Glade I could help. Clint one day could you post pictures of your gardens , would love to see them. |
Ok. I'm a messy gardener though. I tend to cram things close together. I don't like to see mulch. LOL. |

I just noticed I spelled Helenium wrong in the title when I posted. Karen - That is a beauty! I am trying to find a source for 'Tiny Dancer'. Lazy S has it, but they are kind of high on shipping things. |
Karen great color combo in that picture. Clint let me know if you see a good deal on them. |

I also like to plant things fairly close helps crowd out the weeds and give me tons of bloom. I did try this plant at one time don't recall which variety but it just didn't appeal to me so I shovel pruned it. If you want to be happy for a lifetime plant a garden! I like them because they bloom when everything else is beat. |

That's really good news because they are so beautiful. I really like the 'Moerheim Beauty' they look a little like coneflowers. LOL http://www.crocus.co.uk/plants... Susan In the spring, at the end of the day, you should smell like dirt.....Margaret Atwood |

Your season would be much longer than here for me later plants would be phlox and asters. If you want to be happy for a lifetime plant a garden! Faith is the postage stamp on our prayers! Betty MN Zone4 AHS member |
Sounds nice. I went to Maine last summer and it was amazing seeing the gardens up north. The weather was 80s in July. It made me wish I could afford a summer home ! |

I think Maine would be cooler with ocean breezes than here in July we get high temps and humidity no cooling breezes here the 80s would be great. Interesting how it varies in different states everyone always thinks that Minnesota should be cooler in the summer because we are so far north it is 86 here now. Last week we set a new record of 92 for a day that had not been that hot in 101 years we were warmer on that day then TX and FL. So what is TN like during the summer months? It gets about 100 with high humidity. It was so bad last year that I decided to go north for vacation. I loved Maine. The people were so friendly. |
Maine is a great place for summers , winter is a challenge. |
I ordered 'Tiny Dancer'. I didn't get a good deal; however, I am very good at propagating Helenium cuttings and could share some maybe by fall or spring. |

Cool, they look like yellow coneflowers. and the 'Moerheim Beauty' looks like red ones! ![]() Susan In the spring, at the end of the day, you should smell like dirt.....Margaret Atwood |
Here's my 'Mardi Gras'. It has attracted so many bees. I'm not sure what the 'bee' like thing is, but my dad thinks it's a hornet. |
