Can you help me identify this?
Last spring I moved into a new house with a beautiful but unkempt garden. This particular plant was cut back like a rose and went on to grow very long canes with gorgeous blossoms, but only at the ends. It's now time to prune and I'm not sure what to do with it. Shall I prune and train like a climbing rose or is it something else I'm not familiar with?

It is indeed a rose and it would look lovely trained along that fence. If you tie the canes almost horizontal, they will produce many blooming lateral sprouts .

As said above, it's definitely a rose. In fact, I think it's 'Sally Holmes' -- see link below.

If you look through pictures there, you can get an idea of how this rose grows and what you can do with it.

Oh thank you so much!!! I absolutely love this rose and it didn't want to harm it. Y'all are the best.

No need to go to another site when we have quite a few images right here in our database.

Unless there are dead canes I probably wouldn't prune it at this time but tie it horizontally as suggested above. Are there other canes on this Rose?
