I tried the New Garden Report and the Old Garden Report as suggested by Kent for a printout so I could verify my entered locations for all my daylilies, but the reports were far to many pages because of the limited number of plants listed per page.
I did try the Field Listing report, which I know I had done before but must have forgotten about, and that is what I needed to check my locations with. It was only a 24 page report compared to the 60-70 + page reports for the Garden Reports. It lists the locations in a continuous order of the locations (not broken up by Variety).
The Old Garden Map seems to give no choices on how it works, the New Garden Map let's you choose from several options on what it will show. But due to the page layout those are not nearly as good for my purposes as the Field Listing Report.

I had asked Kent if it would be possible to add the fan count to the Field Report and just got an email that it would be added at the next update.
I thought that was really a fast response and great to know he is open for suggestions.

I would appreciate any help anyone can offer on adding seedling pics to the program.
Edited to add:
I created a new picture folder for seedlings, and now it seems to be working.

Today I did a printout of 2 seedling beds, took the printout down to the garden and went down the seedling rows checking and noting which plants had scapes and which plants had blooms. When I came inside to add the info to the plant step program I found the easiest way for me to add it was by using "mass update locations', it is not perfect and could be made to work better. I used the space for other info to put the date and and "S" for scape and a "B" for a bloom. The problem being that when you are over in the "Hybridized Seedlings" section the little box over in the lower right hand corner where the "Misc" info I logged in should show there is not enough space to display it all. It would be much better if that block could be enlarged to display all the data entered with out having to scroll. I may ask Ken if he can do anything with that.
I would love to hear back from some of you that use the program first and see how each of you are entering your info.

Larry,

You are way advanced in Plant Step than I am. I use it to add all my registered daylilies, planning out crosses, and entering seedling. I'm way behind on that.

You're way ahead of me too Larry.
I am having a problem with adding some 2019 pictures. When I browse & find the pic I want to add. sometimes I click on it like normal but the picture won't add. I get a duplicate of one of the ones already there. I then have to delete. Has this happened to any of you? How did you fix. I don't see any difference in the pictures that do get added compared to the ones that don't. Confused Confused

DaylilyDazzled,
I have not had that problem exactly, but I did have what I thought was that problem. There sometimes seems to be a prolonged delay (couple of seconds) for the new or correct photo to load after you are looking at the info for a specific plant. That is probably not your problem, but try just giving it a little extra second to load and see if the right photo shows up.
I do sometimes seem to load "blanks" then have to go back and delete those in order for the photo to show.
Edited to add:
Don't know if it will help or not with the photos, but you might try running the "Check Data Files" under support. It has help clear up other problems for me.

This has happened to me also. I end up just deleting the blank image and that takes care of it. I'll have to try Larry's suggestion next time.

I shall try your suggestion, Larry. Sometimes I have seen the little spinning thing when it happens so could be a delay thing going on, but I can go to the next one I want to put in and it will just take it or might do it for 2-3 then start working again. very frustrating Grumbling

Pictures:
I had found some photos were too large, size wise, and went to my photo editor (and in my case) made them smaller.

Also, it would be nice if there was a way to search photos. I label all of mine in my folders with dates. But when I go to use PS, it does not allow me the search, that windows does. So I have to look through lots & lots of photos. I suppose the other option would be, would be to go to the PS folders in my computer and add the photos to the Rocket files.

Mary, that was one of my biggest complaints when trying to add my photos to my PlantStep Flower program. The search function would not work when I needed to search for a photo. It appears the program is designed to have a folder set up in the Flower folder, and that folder is kept in alphabetical order with the plant name as the file name, when ever a new bloom photo is added to that folder it is alphabetically placed. That does make it easier to find the photo when you want to add a picture for a plant bloom. I also had all my photos by date, but once I started renaming each photo flie of a bloom by the plant name, things worked much better.
So when I take a photo of anything I want to use in the PlantStep flower program I make a copy rename it with the plant name then place a copy in the folder inside the Flower file.

I have made a separate folder for my seedling photos. Keeps me from having to look through all the photos.

Well none of the ideas worked. I waited, made the photo smaller and it was hit and miss if they decided to work.
Larry, How do you put the photos directly into the flower file folder?? I see that my photos that are already in plantstep are in there but not sure how you get them there first? Thinking if I can get them there they will copy over when I want them to. Whistling

My photos are kept in my Pictures folder, when I want a photo in my Flower Picsdaylily folder I just make a copy and past it in the folder. That seems to make everything work better. I will have the two folders open side by side if I have a lot of photos to move, then it goes pretty quickly.

Kent is looking for tester for the newest upgrade on Plant step. They have been working on fixing any errors that where reported. Contact him if you are interested.

I just sent Kent a message asking to be a tester.
I was deleting the pot locations for the plants the club members selected, and even when in mass update locations I was only able to delete one location at a time. Anyone know how to select several locations and delete them all at once?

D'Oh! D'Oh! Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing
Just ran into this thread again so thought I would update on my picture dilemma. So after asking Kent what it could be and he didn't come up with an answer, but if it kept happening I could send a file, a light bulb went off in my head. (doesn't happen often enough Rolling on the floor laughing ) I was trying to put in pictures with the same title D'Oh! D'Oh! Whistling As soon as I renamed the picture I had no problem entering them in.
So if this ever happens to you check that it has a different name than the one already in the system.
So simple Hurray! Hurray!

Glad to see you solved your problem.
I have just run into a problem of not being able to do a back up. Keep getting the message after it looks like the backup was done, "Backup Failed-Invalid Destination: D:\Flower.zip"
I have tried a couple of thumb drives and a remote hard drive. I thought it might be my 4 port USB hub but I tried with the drives plugged directly into my lap top and received the same message each time.

Larry, do you copy the Rocket file as well? When I switched computers I remember Kent telling me the Rocket file will remember everything including pics. The Flower backup will not copy pictures. Smiling

@Ina
I have not been copying any file, I have just been using the Backup shown here.

I just do a copy and paste of the Flower folder will that be able to reload all my data if I have a hard drive failure?
Still waiting on a reply from Ken.
Thanks
