I just finished building a new row down in the bog bed. Naturally the way the terrain and the bed were laid out made it necessary for this to be row 01, which meant that the previous row numbers in that bed would now have to change. This was not a seedling bed but a bed of Named Cultivars.
I was able to easily update the rows in the program with no problem (except one or two I created myself).

I am headed up to my daughters tomorrow and taking her ten pots of daylilies. Even though I did not actually sell these plants I entered them under the "sold to" tab in my plantstep program. Still after finally managing to get the ten plants entered I did not actually know the procedure for doing it. The first few seem to go fine, then for some reason I could not figure out how to do it again. I kept trying different ways and would end up getting one entered, then had the same problem on the next one. Finally after finishing up all ten plants and getting the "sold to" entered, I still could not go in and follow a sequence of steps: kept having to just "luck" it in.
Can someone tell me the actual step by step method of doing this once you have a buyer already listed?

Well, I had to replace some more seedlings that were dug up and that night when I went in to log in all the changes, I drew a blank. Just how is the best way do handle this task?
I was really hoping I could do it in one stage, but actually could not figure out how and had to use a two step process.
I found it easier for me to keep track by adding the new replacement plant and its location first, before removing the original plant.
I was really hoping that when I logged in a new plant, that the program would take out the old plant, but it does not seem to work that way. I could then go back in to mass update, find the locations with two plants in the same location and choose which location to then delete.
What actually happens is that the new plant is added and I end up with two plants in the same location. Then I have to
delete the location manually using the delete key on the keyboard (only then I can use the delete key in the program to actually cause the location to stay deleted) and as mentioned before make sure not to save changes. This is so strange to me,that the program works this way.I certainly wish all I had to do was locate the plant and hit delete, to remove the location. Then I have to go and actually delete the plant in another area. Once the locations of the original plants have been deleted they appear at the start of the list with nothing filled in for the location, then I write the list of the plans down and go back and delete them.
Not very intuitive or efficient, but that is the best way I have found to do it.
Edited to add:
I just sent Kent an email though support in the program, hoping to get an answer and see if there the program is not performing as designed or if there is a simpler way. Hoping for an answer.

I'm hoping for an answer, too. Hope it's a simple one. I've been working on this all morning, but now I gotta go get some groceries in this house!

@josieskid,
Please send Kent an email also, maybe you can explain better than I, and I don't seem to be getting any response.

Larry, I finally emailed Kent this morning, sorry for the delay!

Had a thought about the locations stuff. Perhaps you aren't supposed to easily delete a plant? Here is a quote from the Plantstep Facebook page:
"The ideal with the garden map and plant locations is that the Flower program allows unlimited locations per flower. So if you have a daylily in your display bed and also in your breeding bed you can list it both times in the locations."

Because then this would work:
"you can also click on the "Mass Update All Daylilies" option to add your locations to all your dayliles in one place"

I like this option because the cursor works better with the date fields on this page! Also, in my email, I asked Kent how to more easily/quickly remove a plant from the mass update page, or even if you should. We will see what is the logic behind this issue, because to me that page gets very cluttered and confusing.

Ok, Kent got back to me. Here is his reply:

Hello Mary,
It sounds like you are working in the "Hybridized Seedlings" page and want to clear out all the dead seedlings?

Have you tried the "Mass Delete" button right above the "Delete" button on the hybridized seedling page?

Let me know if this helps,
Thanks,
Kent

"I certainly wish all I had to do was locate the plant and hit delete, to remove the location. Then I have to go and actually delete the plant in another area."

This is what he is talking about. You don't do this on the mass update locations page, you do this in the Hybridized Seedlings tab. I tried it, and it worked. Takes out plant and location, both at once.

Enjoying the program this morning. Fashion Icon is on her way to my house! I can't wait to touch that flower Lovey dubby I decided to create a new cabinet with just my dips. I already have one for Rose F Kennedy and all her cohorts and kids. Everyone is entered first in the main cabinet, of course. But, I find that grouping them in special, smaller cabinets attuned to my programs helps me to concentrate.

Keep us posted on how using the extra filing cabinets works out. I have created three extra filing cabinets but so far they are actually just functioning as short lists. I have one for potted plants: This one receives more work in it than the other two because things change quite a bit. One for NOIDs and unknowns, hardly used at all. The third extra filing cabinet is for Relief plants: This one I thought would help me focus on my crosses, but I have ended up not using it and using the Main Cabinet, but so far I am limiting myself to just pollen parents that have known Sculpted Relief traits.
