Did you go to the Philly show this year? Share pics, observations, favorite inspirations here!

I'm still sorting through my photos, tossing out the many blurred ones and picking out my favorites. With the high overhead lighting, photography is a challenge, even when I use a little post-processing to brighten images. Still, if you didn't get to go this year, hopefully you'll get a sense of it from the photos, and if you did go, half the details we focused on were probably entirely different!

The entrance this year had some graphic art style metal sculptures and an overhead "meadow" of upside down dried flowers. I think the meadow might have been better in concept than in reality, although it did look better when you got right under the display.

The face of the show has changed a good bit... over the past few hyears, some participants have dropped out or cut back the size of their sponsored exhibits. This year, they'd have had a good hbit of empty wspace without the many small stages occupied by the "World Cup of Floral Arranging," an event cooked up between PHS and FTD. Watching huge arrangements take shape over the course of the day was, to me, just one step up from watching paint dry. But I was more interested in getting to the other (remaining) exhibits. maybe the reality TV competition aspect will appeal more to John Q. Public?

I loved the way the orchid tubes were used as a feature of these mobile insallations, a light-catching feature rather than something to be hidden away under the greenery

There was a bizarre carousel style installation that we weren't sure was exactly beautiful, but it was interesting. Each section featured a predominant floral color, enhanced (or made hideous -- I heard both opinions expressed) by vertical bars of neon-bright lights. The deep blue undersea one was created largely with stacks of paper plates in shades of blue, purple, and teal...

I wish I'd snapped a photo to remind me who did the exhibit with all the fairy garden areas... anybody?

Belgard Hardscape had a gorgeous outdoor kitchen display, with lots of fun details. I seem to have photographed some details but not the focal point! Note the contest -- I didn't stand in line since it looked like I could enter online instead, but if you find the right place on their website, LMK!

I was fascinated by their simulated "fire." It's actually a humidifier, with orange LED's lighting up the whisps of water vapor! Definitely the first attractive humidifier I've ever seen.

The Waldor Orchids exhibit seemed reduced in scale, or maybe it's just that they've done walk-through exhibits in the past where you could check out various cultivars (or grex? or however orchid names go LOL). Still spectacular, especially with the rotating central pillar and black reflecting pool!

The enormous pink/white and yellow specimens are in the outer corners of the square pool.
