Lovely, disease-free, highly-fragrant 'Naga Belle' --- a treasure from Viru Viraraghavan, in India.

HMF says not-fragrant, but it smells strongly like Juicy Fruit gum! Totally disease-free in my conditions ... and I gather it does not blackspot. Available, I gather, from Antique Rose Emporium, and will grow nicely on its own roots.

Great vase life, too.

Pepper23, sometimes the HMF zone ratings are just a default. While R.gigantea is tender I would think having Carefree Beauty in its parentage would confer some hardiness. HMF does list someone living in Z5b, Akron, Ohio as growing it at one point so if you're interested you might send them a PM. Those in the humid southern states commented that it's rock- solid for BS. That alone piques my interest! Smiling

Yes Vaporvac ... BS isn't a biggie here, but I've never seen a hint of it ... and it NEVER rusts or mildews. The foliage is so perfect you'd think it was fake.

Lovely and one I've never heard of before. I like learning about new (to me) roses.

That color to me screams that it would just shake off the gravel dust and still glow.

Beautiful! Jeri, you warned me that once I started on old roses, I would not stop. Sigh, so true, so true.

I'm starting to get into OGRs...Yolande d'Aragon and Jacques Cartier. They may be too vigorous in pots...but I thought I'd give it a try. Smiling

This one isn't old. Quite new, in fact: 2006.

Rose (Rosa 'Naga Belle')

Mine also has nice foliage, but no scent whatsoever.
