I grow outdoors and live in the NE Kingdom of Vermont - Zone 3A. (I don't care what the new map says, I still expect to see -40 one of these winters. Just because the last few haven't seen 40 below doesn't convince me that it isn't going to happen.) They're grown in raised beds and you can see photos on my website: www.LabourofLoveLandscaping.com No special care or coddling goes into them, they're tough and easy to grow. The best way I've found to plant them outdoors is to make a mound of goopy mud an inch or so above the existing grade and press them into the mud (for maximum soil contact for the roots) making sure NOT to have the plant (itself) below grade. They do not like staying wet and will rot out if the drainage isn't 'perfect'. Can you suggest Sempervivums that will be good for a succulent garden in Phoenix? I have an area that I want to devote to succulents and pachypodiums. This area gets the full Phoenix sun for most of the day... |

I know this is late...but do you have any left? Gardening requires lots of water - most of it in the form of perspiration. ~Lou Erickson |

Hi Suzanne, not sure where Kate is right now, but think her semps are all under snow until spring thaw. Once the snow is gone I am sure she will have plenty to sell. I have received many wonderful semps from her in the last two years. |

I'm with Jackie, want to know if any of these can take desert conditions? I can provide shade for them. Or should I stick to cactus, lol? In the end, only kindness matters. Science is not the answer, it is the question. |

Hi Sheryl. Several members in Arizona have tried them, without much success. A good one to contact would be Boopaints to see if she had success. She lives in Phoenix. Here is a link for great info on succulents that will do well in desert type conditions. http://garden.org/forums/view/... You will also see what others are using in this Garden Art forum. http://garden.org/forums/view/... |

Where could I find photos of the ones you have listed as available? I'm not familiar with many of them but would like to see them. When is weather warm enough for you to ship? I'm in N. Florida and it's too cold at night here, so I guess it's frigid where you are. Always remember: green side up... root side down. |
