Welcome to the Porch Swing!

Everyone is welcome to join us on the Porch Swing a thread where we talk about cooking, books, pets, birthdays, TV, the area where we live, anything that isn't on topic for the regular daylily threads. The subject on the Porch Swingis always changing.

Don't worry about reading all of the thread, just jump right in. We're sure you'll enjoy visiting with us.

We have many threads covering a wide variety of information on the topic of Daylilies. The Daylily Forum has two threads for off topic discussion - Weather In Your Garden for weather related chat and The Porch Swing for all non-daylily messages and chat.

When a new Porch Swing thread is posted, the old Porch Swing threads will be left up for a few days, then periodically deleted, so be sure to copy any items out of the old thread that you want to keep when you see a new thread is up.

* All other off topic threads will be relocated to the appropriate Forum. If you inadvertently post an off topic thread to the forum, please let us know and we'll move it into its proper place, and if we see it before you do, we'll let you know by Tree-mail that we moved the thread.*

I finally gave up last night because nothing stuck in my posts.

53/32 and partly sunny today. It's warming up here. Hurray! Hurray! I'll probably be hit and miss right now - much longer hours at work. I'll be thinking of you all though. I try to read but might have shorter comments. Caffeinating now. Have a great day all Hurray! Group hug

Happy Spring! Hurray!
I spent yesterday and the day before paying for my greenhouse space by planting about 1,500 onions and 150 leeks. There were 3 of us plus a bored 5 year old. About 6,200 total plants were done - the 5 year old's parents are in much better shape than I am (and about 25 years younger).
One of the CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) members pays for his share with the use of his bottomland to plant the onions and leeks. It is a gorgeous park-like setting by an enormous year-round spring. The weather was great - no bugs yet, and the company was fun.

Sorry, Mary - I only have an image stored in my head. I won't post photos of other people or their kids on a public forum anyway, unless I have their unhesitating permission.

Juice some beets this year, (take it outside!) and try it out on the 4 or 5 year old of your choice with camera in hand. Big Grin
The quart jar is fun because they can get it on their forehead, too. Sticking tongue out

Got it! I did not get any photos this time, but discovered that I already was acquainted with the landowner's girlfriend, and have a standing invitation to come back any time, even if it is not to weed or or harvest onions. I'll ask first about taking and posting photos, but I seriously doubt she'll mind.

Happy Hurray! Spring Hurray! Everyone Hurray! Hurray! Hurray! I can finally see some of the way back part of our yard where the snow has melted, along with all the remaining snow. Looks like the front yard will be snow covered for quite some time yet as that is where our snow removal guy had to pile it from our driveway.
If you want to be happy for a lifetime plant a garden!
Faith is the postage stamp on our prayers!

Woo Hoo...hubby went to hardware store awhile ago for some edging for one of the garden beds, he came home with the edging, a 12-pack of yellow/white/orange Johnny jump-ups and 2 green chile cheesburgers from Blakes (a local hamburger place). Anyone from NM will know about Blakes, haven't had one of those in months!
Already planted half the flowers, waiting for him to finish the new edging & will plant the rest. Have to work off that burger Rolling my eyes. Supposed to rain tonite & tomorrow...excellent for the newly planted things.
Do you suppose hubby is trying to get on my good side? Whistling

I plunged through the snow and took a measurement over my daylily seedling beds and there is about 30 inches of snow there! Here are a few pictures from around our house. Where l walked through the snow, I went down to 4 inches above my knees. At the back of the property, my other daylily beds have eighteen inches over them. Less drifting there.
