I am loving this! Thank you so much @Smyers817 for starting this thread!

I am originally from Texas and smiled when I saw your pic of irises and poppies @GrammaChar. Here's a pic from my garden. The poppies are from my grandmother's garden in the Hill Country. Smiling

@greenappleagnes - You photo looks very familiar to me since I live in the Texas Hill Country. Poppies are one of my favorites. They make a wonderful combination with iris! So nice that you grow them as a reminder of your grandmother's garden.

I lived my whole life in Texas and have been in North Louisiana for the last 10 years. East Texas and N.Louisiana are very similar gardening.
These are what I have right now. Lost a bunch of buds inFebruary to 25° weather.

Hi @Jcanty,

It is a small world, I was born and grew up in Shreveport, La and then moved to Texas when I got married. We have been here in Dallas/Ft. Worth area ever since. Smiling Thanks for sharing your beautiful flowers! I really love the La iris. :)

Your welcome Stephanie and thank you GrammaChar. I do miss Texas and the Hill Country. I don't visit nearly as much as I should.

Thank you Andrea! Just love the dark blue buds and the light blue blossoms of that iris. Wish I knew the variety. I moved it to our property and not sure if it's still around. Sad

Looking forward to seeing more blooms! Maybe with a bluebonnet or two, or a field of them.

@Totally_Amazing Thanks, that looks a lot like it but I don't think it is a TB bc the stalks are shorter more like an intermediate height. Thank You!

So far I've only had a few NOID white irises open but I see there may be others on the horizon. This was the first to bloom. Date was March 14th.

Thumb of 2019-04-13/tx_flower_child/0b93e3

My neighbor has 2 iris beds on either side of the sidewalk leading to his house. One side has dark purple TBs and the other side has yellow ones. So every year the dark purple ones bloom and the yellow ones generally don't start blooming until the others are mostly bloomed out. Except for this year. The yellows are blooming like crazy and the dark purples haven't started yet. Seems odd. But I'm fond of 'odd'.

So anyway I took a picture of one of the yellow blooms.

I am betting this one is a Burseen. He has several though in that color combo with multi colored beards.

..... Greetings Stephanie
You already know who I am ......... you'll be getting some "Harley Jolly" from me in exchange for some "Arro Reece" A "Dad Gum Nice" will be coming your way, along with "Fifty is Nifty" A bit of interesting fact on "Fifty is Nifty" (Burseen '07). This variety, at least to me, has a definite orange-peely, citrusy fragrance to it -- different from any iris I grow

Hello @TBMan, Thank You!
Nice to see you here and I am super excited about getting Harley Jolly, Dad Gum Nice, & fifty is nifty to add to my Burseen collection. That is a really interesting fact about the citrus fragrance on 'fifty is nifty'! I am already looking forward to smelling it. Smiling I added all my Burseen irises to my plant list here on garden.org if you want to check them out. Smiling

Thank You! @Lestv, I am almost sure you are right that it is a Burseen iris. I just don't know which one. I will keep looking through my list and pics. Hopefully I can figure it out bc it really is striking and deserves a name and a tag! Smiling

Think you might be right about the yellow and white noid being 'protocol', you are not the only one that has told me that they thought that was what it is. Hurray!

I finally figured it out that this iris is Burseen's 'Stud Book Stuffer' :)
