Here is another Iris grown in Fremont, less than 30 cm tall, leaves nearly 1 cm broad, flat, flowers single or two in a cluster, about 5-6 cm across with 25-30 mm broad outer perianth (sepals) dark purple, beardless, yellow throat with blue-purple lines. I thought it is Iris tenax, which does not grow in California, but if correct can it be cultivated here. Please help

I think it's probably another Pacific Coast Iris hybrid. Did you see this in a garden or nursery?

while this may not be your iris singhg, i think they may be the kind of iris you're trying to identify?

these are just a few examples of pacific coast irises that are out there.

are you seeing these iris for sale at a nursery? or are you growing them in fremont, ca?

the last link is to an individual that has them for sale on his website. but the site is not opened for business until next week.
