Getting the tap root out when you pull a dandelion is not always possible. Here's how to ensure success. Hook up a root feeder to your garden hose. This is a hollow metal tube about 18" long with a small hole or two on one end and your garden hose on the other. Turn on the water and plunge it in right next to the dandelion you want to pull. Wait several seconds while the water soaks in around the root. Now move it over to the next plant and that will be soaking while you pull the first plant using a dandelion fork. By the way, the rood feeders that work best have the outlet holes located on the sides of the tube. Ones with the hole or holes drilled at the bottom tend to clog up even with the water running.
