What shrubs have blue flowers, and bloom during the winter in south Florida (zone 10a)? |

7 plants are listed if you do that search: https://garden.org/plants/sear... But this is an old thread and you would probably best be served by posting your new question on this page https://garden.org/forums/view... to get the best range of answers. |

that list does not pick up Plumbago: it is ubiquitous in So FL. it has very pretty blue flowers. they say it blooms year round AND in winter too . I have definitely seen it in bloom in Dec and Jan, though winters have been unusually mild lately. |

there is also Clerodendrum ugandense (Blue Butterfly bush). it blooms in winter also. it's fairly common. Butterfly Bush (Rotheca myricoides subsp. myricoides) and Duranta (many people have that, so probably you can get it too) Sky Flower (Duranta erecta) and D. repens 'Geisha Girl' that is dark-blue - very small trees that can be used as a hedge and remain small. it blooms year round also. it is in our Db as Golden Dew Drop (Duranta erecta 'Geisha Girl') |

and then there is Tree of Life - Guaiacum officinale - Lignum Vitae it is a super slow growing small tree considered endangered, i believe, and not easy to find, but i thought to mention it anyway. it is very expensive to buy since it is ultra slow. But! it is super pretty and blooms on and off, also in winter . Lignum Vitae (Guaiacum officinale) some trees have more blue-purple flowers, some almost really blue. here is a good article about it https://www.miamiherald.com/li... |

i'd be curious if @greenmac will consider any of them. Duranta is super pretty and so is Butterfly Bush. If I had a So Fl garden i'd grow both of them. :) Alas! for now i just visit...in winter ;).. the gardens beckon... |
