How do I post a picture from Picture Trail onto one of the forums? I'm not a computer person so please be gentle and very specific.....Thanks Maryl |
When you have your photo on Picture Trail, does it give you sharing options? One of them should be a forum code that starts with [img]. Just copy and paste that code into the forum here and it should work! |
Welcome Maryl! If you hadn't tried posting pictures yet, it's also possible to post photos directly from your computer. Any questions feel free to ask. If I'm stating the obvious just ignore me! Karen |

I feel so inadequate when I talk "computer", But I can post on another gardening site using the "URL" on the picture given by Picture Trail. However on this other site, I also have to type computer code (you know those nonsensical dots and dashes and such) before and after the URL. Had a former friend not told me this code a decade ago I'd be lost. So is there any "code" that I also need to type along with the URL?...Maryl |
Probably. What is the URL to an example picture? |

This is a URL from one of my pictures off of Picture Trail: http://pic20.picturetrail.com/... Maryl |
Maryl, That will work fine. Just type the following things between the URL: [img]http... Put the URL between those two "img" tags and remove the space from the second tag. (I had to add the space so you can see the tag). This code works on almost all forums out there, not just this site. |

Am I reading the code you gave properly? Bracket img bracket URL bracket Backslash img bracket? Is there a space between the last bracket and the the beginning of the URL and a space after the URL before the next string of code?....Is there somewhere I can try this out? A test area perhaps?Thank you....Maryl |
Sure, just try it here Maryl, no problem. Let me ask: Are your pictures stored on the computer you're using now? If so, you don't need photo trail at all. Just write the body of a post, then right below click the green box that says "upload an image". It will bring up a box allowing you to post the picture right from your computer. Easy! Unlike gardenweb, you don't need to use a photo storage site at all. Karen |

Well I'll be darned. Nothing ever works like they say it should but this was easy. I just used the green box like you said Karen and, by George, my computer pictures DID pop up. You people are so smart....Dave, if you can, would you please confirm my post on what I think you are saying about the code. If it will work on other sites I wouldn't have to bother people with questions.....Thank you again, and blessings on you both.....Maryl |
Maryl said:Am I reading the code you gave properly? Bracket img bracket URL bracket Backslash img bracket? That's correct but it's a slash, not a backslash. The slash is under your question mark and leans to the right. Maryl said:Is there a space between the last bracket and the the beginning of the URL and a space after the URL before the next string of code? No, there are no spaces at all. I added the space in my example in order to prevent the tag from being interpreted by the software here. |
![]() Posing photos with the green box below is the best, easiest way to post your photos, providing that you're using the computer where the pictures are stored. But the photo storage sites are nice if you're using something else to post, like your iPad or smart phone. In that case, using the IMG code for your photo trail will work. Now, just run around visiting our forums and enjoying all of the nice features and members here. ![]() Karen |

Thank you Dave for the added response. I appreciate it....Karen, just to let you know how "out of it" I am we just switched from dial up to broadband. I can't see me with an ipad or Smart phone any time soon. Computer technology is out pacing my want to as well as my can do -lol....Again thanks so much...Maryl |
I understand completely Maryl. I'm much the same. Dave can attest to the fact that I'm a computer idiot- always asking for help for the simplest things. Dave and his wife Trish are both very available and helpful for computer questions. I think you find most members here very friendly and helpful. Enjoy! Karen |
