Yesterday and the day before, I was predicting that either Dusky Challenger or Absolute Treasure would open the first boom. Today folks, it was a tie. Absolute Treasure has three open blooms, and Dusky Challenger has one. Somehow I think this Dusky Challenger is actually a seedling of Dusky Challenger, and not the real thing. It is not a huge bloom as was my original Dusky Challenger of years ago. I have even tried moving it to a sunnier position. Oh, well, it's pretty, nevertheless. But today Absolute Treasure is gorgeous.

These photos are taken with my Asus Zenpad, so they do not have the picture quality of my Lumix camera, but so be it. My memory card reader hasn't come yet for my Lumix, so I have no way of transfering those photos to this notepad.

Well, here goes.

I am disappointed that this Asus Zenpad camera does not accurately reveal the lovely blue in Absolute treasure.

I have started learning more about how to use this asus camera, and that I can set the notepad's volume toggle for zoom. Also this afternoon's light is not as bright, so the colors don't look as washed out. So here are my redos of Absolute Treasure and Dusky Challenger. open the pictuures to see the color better.

Thanks all! I wonder which one will start blooming next. I expect that it will be more blooms of Absolute Treasure and Dusky Challenger, with Lady Friend as the next one to start opening. Most of them blooming this year are first-time bloomers in my garden. It's so exciting! Anticipa-a-tion! Grin

Scott, I will try to do that, now that I have a way of using my notepad as a camera. It's a little awkard to use it as a camera, but this year I'm really motivated to document what's happening in my garden. Grin

It has been raining and cloudy all day here. There are more blooms on Dusky Challenger and Absolute Treasure, but no other cultivar has opened yet. Rain expected tomorrow, too.

Lady Friend has started opening:

Thumb of 2019-05-15/DaisyDo/7b4637

I noticed this morning that Lady Friend exactly matches the color of the new foliage on my sterile dwarf pygmy barberry. I've had that barberry for over 30 years, and it has never had a seeding. And it really lights up the garden.

Next up: I think that Tullyherron will be the next to open a bloom. It was an un-ordered freebie. I am hoping I will like it better than its parent, Crowned Heads. For me, the CH standards are too stiff and short in proportion to its falls. Perhaps Tullyherron's grandparent, Yaquina blue will give a bit more grace and balance to Tully's standards. From the pictures I've seen of Tullyherron, I am hopeful.

After having some of its blossoms dashed by the rain, Absolute Treasure has bounced back:

And here is a better picture today of Lady Friend:

Tullyherron is in the process of opening. I'll get a picture of it as soon as it's fully open.

World Premiere has opened its first blossom, but it is tipped sideways and has a streak of purple on one of its standards. Broken in other words. I didn't think WP was prone to that. I hope the subsequent blossoms on it are better, because I definitely don't like distorted or broken flowers either one.

Beverly Sills has opened its first two flowers, but look at all those bloom stalks and buds! I'll be posting more photos of this one as more of the clump opens.

Daisy ~ Thank You! They are all so lovely.

Absolute Treasure is new for me this year. Did yours bloom the first year?

Yes it did! Did yours? I love it. It's such a beauty. I think this is its third year to bloom for me. It would be even a bigger clump if the groundhogs hadn't eaten off all the new foliage last spring, combined with last year's horrificly rainy spring and summer. But it's definitely a vigorous survivor!

Daisy ~ My tall beardeds are just coming into bloom. Due to my elevation and cooler weather, I am about a week (or two) behind than others in my area. So no, it hasn't bloomed yet. I'll have to check this morning, now that it has stopped raining here, to see if it has any buds. Thank you.
