GreenTara18..many thanks for giving it your expert thoughts.

I hate yellow daisy type flowers....far too many look alike.
Never heard of Melampodium.
Seem to be many different sp.
Been searching www.....struggling to find a match.
Found clear close up...but flower structure not quite right....see link.
Have trimmed my pic in case that helps...see below

I also do not really like these similar yellow daisies! nodding

Maybe I'm not right. It is a pity that now the plant is flowering and has no seeds. Just the structure of the plant for me is like Melampodium. But I'm not a nerd. I see Melampodium here as an annual plant. And this is not the view in your photo. The flower is really different.
Therefore, I suggested that this is an unfamiliar form of Melampodium. But perhaps this is another plant. Confused

for comparison Confused

As always your help is very much appreciated.
I had a good look at Melampodium perfoliatum but didn't think leaves or flowers were a match.

Apparently there are 6 sp of Melampodium in Costa Rica.
However as this was found in a private Botanical garden in theory it could come from anywhere.
Sadly I cannot seem to find an e mail to contact the owners.

The cone-like central disk keep reminding me of Acmella (spilanthes), how about Acmella oppositifolia var repens?
