On Valentine's Day I was given a mini-rose plant and have kept it growing in its original pot ever since. It's on my kitchen table. Once the original blooms died, it re-bloomed and those also died off. All except one. That last bloom stayed looking fairly healthy longer than I thought it should.

Then I noticed some green stuff happening in the center of it. Eventually I saw tiny buds taking shape. It began to look like it was actually growing a new plant. I shared the phenomenon with some friends over at Cubits and someone told me my rose was proliferating.

I have been taking pictures every few days since May 27th. I'll post a few.

I had planned to plant it outside when the Buffalo weather was suitable, but now I want to keep it in my kitchen so I can keep an eye on it. I'm curious to see what is going to happen with it.

Hi, Nancy. It's good to see you over here. I fully expect to see that little beauty illustrating some words about nonconformity in one of your Spotlight articles on Cubits.

Sue, it is the same rose. The first post was to find out what was going on with Nancy's rose. The other two were updates. Now you have them all in one thread. Hurray!

What a great idea, Zuzu!

The problem is though, I can't create any new articles on Cubits at the moment. Something is wrong with the Edit box. I Cmailed Dave, but haven't had a response yet. Maybe you could put in a good word??

About the rose, have you ever seen this happen before?

Sue, yes Lynn did ask you about my rose. They are one and the same.

I'll ask Dave about that issue, Nancy.

I have seen proliferation in my garden, but it has always been confined to vegetative centers. Nothing as fancy as your rose.

I have not seen those. I just googled them and yes, the cone flowers do have the same appearance, but with only 1 flower growing out.

We have tiger lilies that seem to grow double flowers. This year I'll get a picture of them and post it. (July is their time.)

Not much has changed since yesterday's photos, but I just can't seem to stop taking it's picture!

Nothing new since yesterday, other than it is standing a little taller, away from the source. So I took a flashlight and got up under it to see where it is attached. Too hard to see in there, though.

Yes, fisherwoman, and I'm really glad I didn't chop it off when it started growing those green things in the middle of it. I almost did. It looked deformed. I thought there was something bad happening. Like a disease or bugs or something. Good thing I didn't do it.

Yes it has, Lynn. I'm glad I documented it, and I wish I had taken a picture of it at the very beginning.

And now I'm curious to see what's going to happen next. Will it be the end when these flowers die, or will it keep growing? We can all watch it together. Smiling

Will one of the bouquet follow suit and proliferate too?
