Lovely flowers Natalie. I am addicted to Blue Bell Homemade Vanilla ice cream and have been for many years. Blue Bell isn't a brand you can buy all over the country. They have expanded some from their lillte creamery in Texas. It is very very very creamy. ![]() ![]() Dot |

Had a couple more seedlings bloom today, and I was so happy to see pretty flowers! I've been hoping for the best but expecting the worst! I think this one is really cute! ![]() Really happy with this one, and it smells really good! The purple is a lot darker in person ![]() Also blooming today is a seedling that I bought last year. I really wish it was registered! ![]() FFO on Taos, which was a new addition last year ![]() Natalie |

Natalie that 1st. one is just sweet.. Love the form and color. 2nd. has that beautiful green throat and awesome midribs that just make it a great looking bi-color. 3rd. one-Register it as it is yours. It is nice. |

Thanks so much!! I also thought that the first one was so sweet! It looked like it was trying to give me a kiss this morning! It didn't look like it had opened up all the way, so hopefully it will just get better! I was really impressed with the second one because I wasn't expecting much from it. It looked so much better than I thought it would. I've got to try and get a better picture to show the purple in it. It really is much prettier than the picture. The 3rd one wasn't grown by me from seed. I bought a couple of fans of it, and don't feel that I'd have any right to register it. It was hybridized by a friend of the person that I bought it from. I asked if it was ever going to register it, and she said no because it's too expensive and you never make your money back. I didn't think it was expensive at all to register one. Oh well, I'll use it for hybridizing, and I'll also enjoy it as it's stunning! Natalie |

Natalie, your seedlings are beginning to come around and they will get prettier each passing year. I really like the yellow/blend oone, the first in the last group and the second one in that group. Dot, you would love Blue Bell Homemade Vanilla. I bet I've ate a ton of it. It's sooooo wonderful. For a change, I really like the Homemade Vanilla with Strawberries. It's to die for. They had one last summer that I think was Happy Tracks that was out of this world. I just looked on their website for the description but I couldn't find it. I just remember how good it was and then it was gone. That's when I found out they rotate their special blends from month to month. So, maybe it will be back in the rotation soon. I used to like Bryer but it doesn't hold a candle to Blue Bell for me anymore. If I let myself, I could eat a big glassful everyday or more. We take ours in a big glass and add just a little bit of skim milk on top. Then we slowly scoop up a little of milk with each bite of the icecream. It makes it taste like it just came out of the old hand cranked ice cream machines. I've tried other flavors. But I always come back to the vanilla. If you go to their website you can see all their flavors. I'm going to try some more of their berry flavors, they sound so good. Ok, I'm off topic, but I think their should be a contection to daylily growing and eating ice cream, don't you?? ![]() |

Thanks Mona & Cindy! And Mona, there is totally a connection between daylilies & ice cream! I'm eating a bowl of homemade banana ice cream right now, and it's 11:00 at night! I just don't care what time it is. I had to have some! Tomorrow, I'm making more too. First up is Cheesecake ice cream! Can't wait to eat that one!! Then it's more Vanilla (a favorite for sure!), and then Orange, and another batch or two of Banana. The neighbors have informed me that they are out, so I better get busy! It's supposed to be 103 out tomorrow, so I can't think of anything better to do. I'm sure not going to be doing any yard work. Natalie |

I love ice cream too but I have to eat it before 8pm or I would never sleep. I can't eat anything with sugar in it too late at night. Lighthouse Gardens |

Oh Natalie, those are beautiful! Hopefully I will be able to post some more of my seddlings tonight, unless the 4H meeting runs too long. Hmmm, ice cream sounds good..... ![]() |

Thanks Jan! I can't wait to see pictures of your seedlings! I had two more bloom again this morning, and they looked a little better than the first blooms. I went to grab my camera, and all of a sudden it started pouring down raining! That lasted only 10 minutes, but they were beat half to death when I went back out. It got up to 103 today, and my AC went out! We've got fans going and as long as I keep eating ice cream, it's not so bad! We've got a "swamp cooler", so it's an easy fix, but will have to wait until tomorrow. The motor burned up, but they don't cost that much to replace, and DH can do it himself. I sure wish it would cool down here! I made Cheesecake ice cream this morning, and it was AMAZING!! So rich though that I bet a 1/2 cup serving would almost be too much! Natalie |

I just came in from the garden, 90 degrees today, I got a little weeding done in a shady area. I would love some of that cheesecake icecream, it sounds so yummy!! ![]() ![]() |

Margaret, it is delicious! Sorry to hear you are getting this horrible heat too. I just heard the strangest thing on the news though. I actually snowed in the mountains in southern Utah today! I'm up north in Utah. How could it be 103 here, and snowing not too far from here? This is just crazy! Natalie |

That is weird, but I guess it depends on altitude. ![]() |

OK, some of my seedlings - many of these photos are now taken in the afternoon since my hours were changed at work ![]() 11O-1 Prague Spring X Carnival Of Venice ![]() 11D-2 Blazing Lampsticks X Papa Smurf ![]() 11S-1 Hot Wheels X Pink Super Spider (a seedsower cross) ![]() 11B-1 Little Jasper Spider X Cascading Blue. What an incredible cross. All three seedlings from this cross are keepers. It is a sib to the one I call "Patty's Gift" ![]() 11B-1, 11B-2, 11B-3. The one I call Patty's Gift is the tall one in the back ![]() This is one of Fred's seedlings which I purchased off the LA last summer. It is nocturnal! Green Widow X Aldersgate And I did not post the ugs - of which there are many in the seedling bed. Whether it is because of the weather (100 degree temps melt almost everything after a time) or because most of them I am not seeing until late in the day, or they need more time, or are truly ugly - I don't know. A few will get posted in the Ugs thread probably this weekend ~Jan |
