Hi fellow plant friends, I recently discovered this plant growing in shady areas of my yard and I have no idea what it is. I just want closure because I got a new puppy and I dont want him getting into anything poisonous! Im located in Denver, CO. Cheers, Chris ![]() ![]() |

Moon Flower, Giant White. She'll be OK, just don't let her chew on them. NOT A EXPERT! Just a grow worm! I never met a plant I didn’t love.✌ |

It reminds me of Datura which is highly toxic. Jimson Weed (Datura innoxia) Jimson Weed (Datura stramonium) ~ I'm an old gal who still loves playing in the dirt! ~ Playing in the dirt is my therapy ... and I'm in therapy a lot! |

It's Datura. Pull it quick! Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and proclaiming...."WOW What a Ride!!" -Mark Frost President: Orchid Society of Northern Nevada Webmaster: osnnv.org |

When it comes to plants, common names can be quite confusing because many plants that are entirely different, from entirely different genera might have the same common names. Moonflower is one of the common names for Ipomoea alba: Moonflower (Ipomoea alba) Moonflower is also one of the common names for Jimson Weed (Datura innoxia) They are in two entirely different families of plants and both are toxic to dogs and cats. Here is the ASPCA page for each, listing the toxicity and symptoms of animals who have ingested these plants: Ipomoea alba: https://www.aspca.org/pet-care... Datura inoxia: https://www.aspca.org/pet-care... ~ I'm an old gal who still loves playing in the dirt! ~ Playing in the dirt is my therapy ... and I'm in therapy a lot! |

The thread "Mystery Plant" in Plant ID forum Really doubt the puppy is going to bother the pretty flower.... unless it suffers from excessive boredom... |

Some dogs and cats don't bother plants at all while others seem to like to "taste". We have two golden retrievers, 6 years old 3 years old and they both want to taste, chew and eat everything in sight! We have to be extremely vigilant of what we plant in the fenced area of the property where they roam. ~ I'm an old gal who still loves playing in the dirt! ~ Playing in the dirt is my therapy ... and I'm in therapy a lot! |
