Believe it's Bauhinia galpinii (synonym Bauhinia punctata) if it's a vine-y shrub or shrubby vine. We call it Red African Orchid Bush in my area but other common names are Nasturtium Bauhinia or Pride of De Kaap.
Oh yeah, they're called "Blue Northers" here - 82 to 52 in about 20 minutes. We had a 20 years of 10a winters, then 2 back to back winters with hard freezes. Some palms were toast and that's when I lost my in-ground Plumeria.
Bauhinia galpinii for sure for sure. My favorite plant in the world and I don't own one!
Something must be done about that!
Very tough once established. Heat, drought tolerant. Something of a scrambler, but fairly slow growing so never a nuisance. Brick-colored flowers. (I don't know anything else with blooms this color.) Zone 9-10.
