Good morning!
I have a large patch of these daffodils in one of my gardens, and I am not sure what variety they are?
Also, every Spring the buds come up and start to open then suddenly they die. Does anyone know what I might do to prevent that?
Thanks!

If the area in which bulbs are planted is too shady, this can be why daffodils won't bloom. Too much nitrogen fertilizer will cause less flowers too.
NOT A EXPERT! Just a grow worm! I never met a plant I didn’t love.✌

The bulbs are planted in full sun, but they are right above a septic tank. I will look into the Nitrogen.
Thank you

Would the blooms possibly be dying because the patch is too big?

Daffodil blooms start to look sad when they become overcrowded. How long have they been in that patch? They need to be divided every few years.

The patch has been there for at least 6 years. I will divide them this fall.
Thank You!

Hi Blasingstar
One more thing - very important - nothing but grass should be planted over a septic field or tank. Nothing. This suggestion comes from the contractor who installed ours. There's a lot going on in a septic field and the process must not be disturbed.
Same advice about plantings near or next to a well-head.
