The advertising on NGA, is getting so obtrusive and obnoxious it is becoming difficult, near impossible to read any post, or follow any thread without running into an ad ...

ADS are everywhere ...In posts, on top of posts and behind threads ...

Maybe you should opt out of the adds. That is an option.

Baja....I'm confused as to what the uploading of images to the data base has to do with it? Thanks in advance....

I think there is a requirement to ensure people contribute to the database before they have the option to disable ads. I'll let someone more knowledgable than myself speak for the motivation and the actual requirement. I passed that point years ago.

Perhaps I chose to disable ads a long time ago and have forgotten. At my age that is a good possibility.

I disabled mine. I didn't mind them when they were only on the side of the posts. In fact on occasion I would see and ad that was of interest to me.
When they started appearing in the posts I disabled them. It was just way to annoying and confusing.

It doesn't have to be a photo. You can add to the database by adding comments to plants, or adding some data to a plant, or adding a new plant. I believe that any contribution to the database will allow you to hide the ads after you reach whatever the threshold is.

Once a member has reached 100 total database contributions (which can be a combination of photo uploads, entering plant data, entering a significant comment regarding a plant, etc.) they will then have the option to disable ads on their profile page.

The Rapture is a Christian reference. Essentially all the believers are taken to heaven in the last days of the world. Depending on the viewpoint one holds, this either occurs before the predicted seven-year Tribulation (when the Antichrist reigns and God judges the world), or at the end of time.
