Hi Gang, I hope this year's gardening season has brought you all great bounty and beauty! Smiling

I've had White Feather hosta for 3 years, and I got it in order to brighten up a FULLY shaded corner with it's beautiful white leaves. Smiling Lovey dubby It's Spring leaves emerge white, and by early July, the leaves have already emerged (mostly) green, and in between, the leaves are striped green and white. Well, I'm disappointed in the very short length of time it's leaves stay mostly white. Sighing!

Early May....

I fully understand that it eventually needs to grow green leaves for photosynthesis. I'm wondering, though, if its location, in full shade, is affecting the length of time it's leaves remain mostly white, bc it needs green leaves sooner rather than later to have more time to soak up what little light it receives, and I therefore should move it to more dappled shade to give it another month or two to remain white? Or is it typical for White Feather hosta leaves to remain mostly white for only just around two months, in either scenario of light exposure?

I look forward to all of your thoughts and suggestion! Smiling Thanks a bunch, Gang! Smiling Smiling

I don't grow it but would guess that a more vigorous green sport is taking over.

I'm just impressed that you have been able to keep one alive for 3 years! I tried it 3 times and decided that variety is too picky for me!

*Blush* Rose, I'm sorry it didn't work out for you. Sad Actually, I thought mine would not come back ever again, the second year, and head straight to the boneyard. Hilarious! Hilarious! Turned out to be an unexpected surprise. Shrug! Smiling

Mine only lasted 2 seasons and I do not remember the white lasting very long at all. I think yours stayed whiter longer then the one I had. I was thinking of trying Spring Ghost next year to see if it does any better.

Zebra Stripes isn't totally white in the spring like White Feathers, but it keeps white in the newer leaves all season long.

Those are beautiful! I only wish a plant could keep that white color for good and live! Hoping in the future we get more Hosta colors like red and orange.

If you google hosta pics a really pretty red and white one is shown in the images. I wonder how many customers are upset to see it's just a photo shopped green and white hosta!

I have a new one ordered that is hopefully more hardy than White Feather. It's called Hide and Seek. Green Hill hosta Farm has it for sale.

I know Keith I was making fun of them. Sad that these companies would allow fake advertising like that.
Hope it does well for you Rose.

I do have it, but it was struggling last year. I'm not sure if it will return this spring. If it does I'll probably try moving it to a better location. I got mine from Naylor Creek. I'm not sure how reliable the magazines are. I've seen some pretty wild colored Hostas or the wrong one pictured in their catalogs before. You may want to check with some of the more reputable online retailers when purchasing those special ones.

If you're on Facebook you can search for Tim Nifong. He has Raspberry Sundae for sale. He's from North or South Carolina. I've ordered from him before.

I had it for six yrs. It was in total dark. Every yr I would say "I am going to move the poor thing. The ferns would pop up and cover it and I would forget, I finally moved it and it got 2 hrs of sun I planted Black Hills next to it. I was so pleased with the black and white. The following yr it came up as one leaf and i never saw it again. Rolling on the floor laughing

Hilarious!
The habit for White Feather is that it's leaves are white early in the season and they turn green in July. Smiling
