This little offset of one of my big variegated craniums is 3 years old now and doing a great job of mostly keeping half and half variegation. I can't wait until its all grown up, hope it is still exhibiting this trait

Oh I love that Nasturtium! I cannot grow those here. I tried once years ago, that and sweet pea. The heat just killed them. But they are so good in salads!

Gina, at my last home, zone 9, I used to plant Nasturtiums and sweet pea seeds in the fall. The nasties will grow and bloom all winter, I have some getting ready to bloom right now, I planted the seeds just a few weeks ago. The sweet peas will bloom in late February and they will both be gone by May. Fleeting but beautiful, I have not planted any sweet pea seeds here but it is not too late and now you have me thinking about them........ Here are some old photos.

I will have to try that. I did it the first year we moved here from Los Angeles. The mind set there is everything gets planted in Spring. Of course they burned up here real fast. I have learned 'season reversal' planting for some things but not all ha ha!

I still remember planting lettuce here in March and in less than 2 months it had all bolted

I've never had success with sweet peas though I remember my grandmother always had them.
I agree with your culinary observation Gina, just excellent in salads.
