We plan to plant Daffodils and Tulips now in Autumn for bloom in Spring.

However, we would like to have some suggestions on what to plant above / together with daffodils and tulips so that it won't be empty and sad the rest of the year ?

What grasses / plants/ flowers will keep decorating our garden when daffodils stop blooming in Dallas, but won't prevent these bulbs from raising to life each spring?

Many thanks!

If you are in the Dallas area, unless they hardy southern daffodils, you won't have to worry about returning plants.

Tulips, you have to lift and refrigerate in a refrigerator without apples or other fruit that give off gases that kill the bulbs. They don't come back, I rarely get 2 years from them even if I do lift.

I have some well over 20 year old tazetta narcissus (similar to a daffodil but small and scented) that reproduce and come back every year. And some small yellow ones, also an antique variety of daffodil but I haven't ID'd them.

anything I am going to have to lift I plant in pots

This message is a bit late however I've been happy using daylilies next to spring blooming bulbs.
