Hi NattyChick, Welcome to the Hoya Forum where you will find a few others who are in love with Hoyas. It looks like you've got a nice collection going there! Thumbs up I hope you will continue to share your photos and information on how you grow Hoyas in Australia!

I have both Wax Plant (Hoya australis subsp. tenuipes) and Wax Plant (Hoya australis subsp. australis) and australis is one of my favorites for fragrance! December/January is the usual time frame that I see blooms on my H. australis so I'm looking forward to the next couple of months in hopes of those fragrant flowers!

I used to have a few Wax Plant (Hoya carnosa) but don't grow that one anymore and at one time I also had a couple of different Wax Plant (Hoya pubicalyx) but currently only have a single large plant that I got years ago. It has a single bloom umbel on it right now.

If you'd like to view more photos, here are links to our database for some of the Hoyas in your collection:
Wax Plant (Hoya cinnamomifolia)
Krimson Princess Hoya (Hoya carnosa 'Rubra')
Krimson Queen Hoya (Hoya carnosa 'Tricolor')
Wax Plant (Hoya macgillivrayi)
Hoya 'Minibelle'
Wax Plant (Hoya pauciflora)
Wax Plant (Hoya pubicalyx 'Pink Silver')
Wax Plant (Hoya pubicalyx 'Red Buttons')
Wax Plant (Hoya pubicalyx 'Splash')
Wax Plant (Hoya purpureofusca) (Synonym Hoya purpureofusca)
Hoya 'Shepherdell' (we currently have no photos of this one.)
Wax Plant (Hoya imperialis) (Synonym Hoya sussuela)

Thank you! I was going to link to the individual pages, but I didn't know how to put links in my post haha.

When my Shepherdell produces umbels and flowers I will get some photos to add to the database!

Ii am so happy to see you here! Your collection is so nice! I hope you will be a frequent poster. I am waiting for my plants to do something interesting LOL. I hate to just post foliage. I want blooms. But mine have been reluctant to accommodate me since I took back my growing space in August 2018. Maybe soon......

RE: your title. I already have serious Hoya envy! I've had to order my plants since I can't get them locally and sometimes I get that blank look when I ask nurseries if they have any. Sighing!

My husband and I were out and about a little while ago and stopped in at a local nursery to look around. They had a few Hoya carnosa's in 6 inch hanging baskets, with the asking price of $24.99 which (in my opinion) is way too much for the common Hoya carnosa. I've seen the same size at Home Depot and Walmart for much less! Then I found 2, 6 inch hanging baskets of H. nummalarioides that were in full, fragrant bloom but no price tags on either of them. I spotted a young man who worked there and he looked all over the baskets for a price tag and when he couldn't find anything, he said he'd go check for us. We continued to walk around and hubby went one way while I went over to another area of plants; the employee came to track us down and found my husband and told him the price was $70.00!!! I thought my hubby was kidding but nope, they wanted $70. LOL, I said "Thanks but No Thanks!" If they had been $24.99 I would have bought one but not at the outrageous price of $70.00!!!!

WOW that is just ridiculous. My Hoya imbricata which is kind of uncommon cost less than half that!

We have lots of small local nurseries and a couple of really huge ones. Most of them get their Hoyas from a national grower called Paradisia (Collectors Corner) so much of the stock is the same at each nursery. Having said that, the range and variety of Hoyas available in Australia is very large, thankfully! I am also part of a local enthusiasts group and we swap cuttings of Hoyas between us to try and expand our collections. Many of mine are still a little small for that, but I will get there!
