I can't see your reply to my post on the "unknown tree" with the scan of leaf and distinctive fruit

I have got 4 "system messages" that there is a reply, but cannot click on anything there to see it, and when I go to the "Ask a question" forum, I cannot see the post I made

any suggestions?

A funny thing : I thought there was a Plant ID forum, and I looked for it 4 different times, scrolling down the page through all of the forums and could not find it. Finally settled on the Ask a question forum. OK so I'll look again. Thanks!

As I remember, from having used the Plant ID forum myself before a few times, it used to be where the Plant Photos forum is now

I hate to break it to you, but if a particular forum is missing from the list and should be there, I'd guess that you were probably banned/blocked from it for some reason.

I'll shift your thread back to AAQ so you can see it at least.

Hello Joshua

Well if I was banned from the Plant ID forum, I sure can't think of a reason why, and I certainly was not notified that I was banned from it ... ho hum ... what's happening in Melbourne these days? I picture you on the deck of a 100 foot yacht or schooner, sipping on a "tall one" in the summer sun ☼, casually monitoring Garden.org and raking in the $$$ from all the advertising I'm creating for you in some of my popular threads such as Nick's Quips ☺

Rainy weather here in Melbourne, Nick! We had unusually warm weather in late October and then November has been wet. Other parts of the country haven't been as fortunate - a lot of people are suffering wildfires in other states (New South Wales has declared a state of emergency).

I wish I was rich enough to own a yacht! Sadly it's beyond me and despite being a Plant Admin, my role here is purely voluntary, as are all the other Plant Admins. All revenue from any advertising goes to the Site Admins to help maintain the site.

Joshua - unusually dry here for November, unusually cold with deep snow this early in other parts of the country here, and probably just about everywhere else in the world has something to say about the unusual weather. Thanks for your weather report.

Well now I have to revise my mental image of you ... how about a Hawaiian shirt with sunglasses and straw hat, kicking back on a hammock strung between 2 date palms, sipping coconut milk (from the half shell) through a straw? Am I close?

I had read that your Fall (Autumn) was rather short and winter had arrived early.

I'm afraid you're still a long way off on your mental picture, Nick! If you want a picture of me relaxing, it would be in my winter dressing gown, seated comfortably in a chair in front of the fireplace with a good book.

Well, I'll take that then. I especially like the fireplace and book image, and I see a black kitty cat among your icons, so that makes the setting complete.

Well actually here it was just a short period of colder than normal, now its been drier and a little warmer than normal, with night temps going down only to about 45°F (7 °C) for about 2 weeks now. The average time for a hard freeze is about mid-November, and have already had one about 2 weeks ago. So far so good, but just waiting for a huge "arctic vortex" dip to come down and turn everything white and frigid. But I have lots of books, lots of wood for my Jøtul wood stove and lots of time to hibernate with my kitty.

For some reason, it appears that Nick is not able to access the Plant ID Forum. As Australis/ Joshua mentioned in his earlier post, if a particular forum is missing from the list and should be there, I'd guess that you were probably banned/blocked from it for some reason.

@Dave or @Jon would know if that is the case, or if there were perhaps a glitch in the system.

to plantladylin :

Well, I'm not going to spend half the day trying to fix it or clear it up ... I'm still documenting Clerodendrum trichotomum in my thread Clerodendrum trichotomum in the Trees and Shrubs forum
The thread "Clerodendrum trichotomum" in Trees and Shrubs forum

I just posted the location of the tree that I took the samples from, which is public access, and anyone can go there any time that the cemetery is open and see the actual tree for themselves ☺

As far as plant ID goes, I'm an old hand at doing that myself too, from my former days on Dave's Garden, when I watched over the Plant ID forum there like a hawk, and had my hand in identifying many plants that I did not even know myself. I used Google Images, describing traits and characteristics of the plant, and kept at it until I hit on the exact plant posted in the forum. I learned to modify my search parameters and the Google Images algorithm learned from me and got better each time I made an attempt. Much quicker doing that than hassling with a moderator, or a pair of them, who want to give me a hard time here on Garden.org, so I don't care really ...

How is everything Sebastian, Florida right now with the "polar vortex" making half the country an icebox? Nice and sunny ☼ here in Gladstone with slightly above "normal" temps for this time of year. I try to keep that a secret so the city (and Oregon) don't get overrun by refugees from the rest of the country ☺

Plants Admin

I checked your previous posts and suspect it may be a possibility that the ban came about from a post you did there 2 months ago about buying Chinese products.
I move id questions from the AAQ forum to the Plant ID forum all the time, didn't realize you wouldn't be able to see it but at least it's back in the AAQ forum now.

Garden.org Admin

Calif_Sue is right, I did some extensive search, and there was a ban on the Plant ID forum because of your post. As it was several months ago, and you seem to be posting normally now, I have lifted the ban. Please don't post advertisements there again.

Jon, doesn't a member get some notification if they are banned? If not, how come? Due process and all that...

Oh yes - I remember what it was now that I said about buying Chinese products. But I still mean it - and I will emphasize it in caps : PLEASE DO NOT BUY PRODUCTS MADE IN CHINA (unless absolutely necessary) since we are already in enough "hot water" since Richard Nixon "opened the door" to Chinese trade with his visit to China in 1972 - and since then products made in the U.S.A. have plummeted to such a low level, and China has taken over the helm, that we are truly in a stranglehold because of it. I will have to admit that the Chinese are truly masters at what they do : steal and copy and improve, such as the Retevis RT-5RV 2-way radios, which I own myself, and am getting another, since there is no comparable radio made in the U.S.A. at that price. So, as the Chinese say : ☯ YIN YANG (some good with the bad, and some bad with the good) - it will all even out in the end ☺ lets call a truce ⚐ and be happy!
