I just LOVE the Wintry Sky crosses. Please introduce!!! But also 43V is just amazing!!!
I think the people who grow Irises are about as special as the flower itself!

I love this one. Hope it gets introduced. Is it hardy? I have some problems with Wintry Sky here, which is a shame because I love it too.

Also, love the beard on 16T-66b, but like the form better on d. My favorite in that cross though is the parent. The red seedling is quite nice.

16T-52c a strong grower here. But, then again, so is Wintry Sky (Feast of Kings and Toronto as well), so I'm not sure how useful that might be for you.

If you like the form of 66d, you would like 66b. They are very similar to each other, except 66b is obviously a deeper color and has that bigger and more saturated beard. I just never got a very good picture of it. So far, 66d and 66g are the best of the bunch in terms of how they grow and bloom. 66a is my favorite though, it's a knock your socks off flower in real life.

13T-43v is a bit of a photo queen. When I'm looking at pictures over the winter, I always think 'Wow, that's nice', but then when I see it blooming the next spring I'm kind of like 'Eh'. It's a nice iris, but the color isn't quite what it appears to be in the pictures.

Impressions change, though, so we'll see how they look this spring.

I am pretty sure that a is outstanding in the sunlight since the fall lines would be more pronounced. It has a nice color to it as well. A deep red violet cast to the purple.

Had another cross involving the red seedling above that I really liked, 16T-78: (13T-43v X Dinner Talk). Dinner Talk produces seedlings with beautiful flowers, but you have to be ruthless when culling because some portion of the seedlings will also have undesirable traits such as stalks that don't hold up in wind or rain.

I love all of them! But 16T-78j really looks red to my eyes. Lovey dubby 16T-78c is such a gorgeous color, I just want to see it in person (and in my garden) nodding

Thanks, everyone.

The 16T-78 seedlings do all have reddish beards. That's interesting, I never really noticed before. Maybe because when I think of red beards, other crosses come to mind. Shrug!

16T-24a: Grace and Charm X Livy
Thumb of 2020-01-16/KentPfeiffer/50a1e1
Grace and Charm is a greatly underappreciated iris from a hybridizing standpoint. I wish the falls on 16T-24a were wider at the hafts. Other than that, it is an almost perfect TB. Great branching, high bud count, vigorous growth, long bloom season. It gets all of that from Grace and Charm.

16T-30d: Dancing Ghost X Resonance

16T-47m: Born This Way X Gates of Rome

Born This Way might be another iris with real potential for use in hybridizing

Not even sure how to describe the color of the petals of this iris (watermelon pink?), but it's a very pleasing color to me.

(thunk!...) You knocked me out with these, Kent.

From database photos,
Grace and Charm has that desirable width, blockiness, that I like - a Paul Black characteristic in his irises.
