You had written "I didn't keep any other seedlings from this cross" so I thought that meant you had kept the ones pictured. My bad. The similar seedlings you do have must be outstanding then.

Sorry, that was a reference to the fact that I kept 67e and 67h. It's sort of weird that those two ended being selected since green wasn't even something I was trying to get. But, they were the best plants from the cross and had the most distinctive flowers. Shrug!

So Kent, Girl Crush X Haunted Heart produced that last bunch and all those Greens?
I think the people who grow Irises are about as special as the flower itself!

Yes.

I don't pretend to know much about how this stuff works, but have used Haunted Heart as a parent enough to say with reasonable confidence that if you cross it with a red iris some portion of the seedlings, maybe 10% or so, will be greenish. I think I understand why, maybe.

On the SDB side, Stop and Stare also reliably throws green seedlings. I have no idea why, other than there's obviously some genes for yellow hiding in its DNA because it also throws a boatload of variegatas, no matter what you cross it to. Shrug!

That's very helpful info Kent for my hybradizing goals. I just started this journey Thank-you!! I know nothing about what I am doing. But boy have I had fun thus far.

I did go and look at all Haunted Hearts children and actually have many but added two more to the wish list. I will start including it and it's children in my Green pursuits. I honestly don't care if someone else comes out with the green shades of my dreams before I do. I would actually be thrilled. But till I see those shades, I will continue my pursuit. And I am sure, continue to have loads of fun doing so!!!

Here's an example. I liked 16T-67f and 16T-67j quite a lot, but they were both markedly inferior to 16T-11j, which was a black seedling X Haunted Heart

16T-11j
Thumb of 2019-12-10/KentPfeiffer/8f3f0b

This cross was a bit unusual for one involving Haunted Heart in that all of the seedlings looked pretty similar to each other. 16T-11j was the best of the bunch and I also kept 16T-11k because it was the reddest one. The rest were somewhere in between those two.

The 16T-06 cross was Enter the Dragon X 13T-11f (13T-11f was a sibling to Livy)

16T-06b
Thumb of 2019-12-12/KentPfeiffer/a76d14

16T-06f

For some reason, I never got a picture of the other seedling kept from this cross, 16T-06a. In any event, it was a dead ringer for Enter the Dragon.

Normally, that would be a reason to toss it as there isn't much point to keeping a seedling that looks just like one of its parents. However, since I haven't been able to keep Enter the Dragon alive for than a couple of years at a time and really liked it as a parent the few times I've gotten to use it, I'm hoping 16T-06a will serve as an adequate substitute.

I think it would be nice to have an "Enter The Dragon" look alike that would actually live and bloom. I finally got rid of what was left of it, as it seemed to only bloom once in a while here. I did manage to get it's pollen to work, but will be a while before I know what I get.

16T-06f is amazing!
