I just looked through and voted on every category in the photo contest while my hubby was boring me by watching college football. So many nice photos! It was so hard to choose, especially on plant categories that I do not (and have never) grown like Day Lilies and Iris. But all the photos were so nice! Good luck to every one!

I voted too and had difficulty narrowing down a couple of categories to just 3 favorites!

"Phew!" is right, but I didn't want to miss any photos like I did last year. Due to time zone differences, in my CST zone, the judging will be over by 6:00 PM on the 3rd. I didn't realize that last year, and saved 1/3 of the categories for the last night. The ones that don't make it into the finals disappear when the judging is done, so there's a bunch I never got to see.

The last few categories are sparsely populated at this point, so maybe better to wait a bit. I wish I had waited.

Yes, that's right. Contributions to the contest are closed and it's now the voting period.

Sparsely populated? Hilarious!
Carol, are we looking at the same contest? The last four categories come in at 280, 162, 293, and 265...
Or, do you really think a couple hundred, plus, photos per category is too sparse for perusal?

I'm with Diana, trying to get through them all tonight because I don't have time tomorrow and I don't want to miss any!

Deb, please consider voting for a few if you really like them--one vote makes all the difference in a photo showing up as a distant 'runner up' vs not at all! Also, historically, many of the contenders are so close or tied in votes that one vote really makes a big difference there, too.

Dirt, you are right - it was easy to go back and scroll quickly through a second time and just pick out those that really caught my eye. Some categories I only voted for one or two shots, and I tried to vote on photo composition rather than if I liked the plant or not. As always, some just seem to be miscategorized and anytime there were humans or pets that was a no-go for me.

Same contest yesterday. Maybe my pc was just slow to load? There were mostly blank spaces on the "wildlife" category but I made my 3 choices, and moved on to the last ( misc.) and did the same. When I returned to the top, it showed that I had not voted in the wildlife thread, so I went back to it and found more photos had been added after I had voted, so my vote didn't register.

I generally do not vote for photos that have people in them, but this time there was one particular one that really grabbed me, so I voted for it. Voting takes me a couple of days - first I just scroll through and save all the ones that really appeal to me. Then the next day I go through my saves, and click on each one to enlarge it. And from there, I start to narrow down to 3.

Oh dear. It occurred to me that maybe I should post about the 'blank' ones in various categories. Two easy solutions. In most cases you can still click on those and then you can see them. I also noticed that if I refreshed the screen (on a Mac it's called 'reload the page') or if I closed the category for awhile, reopening it also refreshes it.

I'm going out on a limb here and say it's a software issue. :)

That happened to me when I got too far from the wifi with my phone. It reloaded okay after I got closer.

I agree with @cwhitt and also saw a photo with a person that got my vote.

I also agree with Dirt - one vote does matter.

My angst comes from cacti. I am in the northeast, not the southwest, and know nothing about the work it takes to raise them so I would feel guilty voting for a pretty face versus one that took years to bloom. It's the only category I skipped.

For plants that I can't or don;t cultivate I just looked for photographic skill. But I have to say that I do vote for plants the I like the PLANT, not just the photo. I guess because I am interested in what others grow and if they grow anything the same as ma ha ha.

I also vote for plants I have never grown. I may not be able to fully appreciate the effort or knowledge that goes into growing them, but I sure can appreciate the results. And the skill (or luck Hilarious! ) of the photographer too!

I do have some categories that I haven't voted in. I probably will when the next elimination round starts and that could be tonight. Have to check as I don't actually know today's date.

I had mostly used my computer to view and vote. I'll tell you - if you want to have a good giggle, try using your smartphone if you have one. Mine has what you might call a trigger finger. I can scroll through 293 pictures in a blink of an eye. Very funny, but then I'm easily amused. But no, I didn't vote by doing that. Sat at my computer to view, deliberate and vote. And voting was not easy.

Good luck to everyone who entered the contest. Win or lose, your pictures were great. And for some, it might have required a bit of courage to enter. Hope you're glad that you did. It's a leap of faith. But as I often point out, 'ya never know'.
