Very nice pictures of these Non lilies. Do you grow all of these? Cannas are often called lilies too. |

Thankyou Caroline; yes, I grow them all in pots except the Magic L:ilies. No Cannas though. Aren't Crinums sometimes also referred to as lilies? Nothing that's been done can ever be changed. |

JMorth, those are gorgeous 'lilies'. My suprise lily and the sprekelia have never bloomed for me. I'm waiting very impatiently... Have no problem with my gloriosa lilies though (if you have extra greenii to trade, I like to trade for a couple). I like your crinum lily; I have the 'milk & wine' and dark pink crinum and the white Americanum crinum, and they do great here. If only the sprekelia would bloom... “For even the Son of Man/Jesus did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many.”” Mark 10:45 |

Aztecs often respond well to crowding (in a container). I may have some difficulty in determining the tubers apart when I re-pot Gloriosas in May though the greenii are of a somewhat lighter color. This past spring I inadvertently mixed them w/ the rothschildiana. Thankyou for the comment and please forgive the late response. Nothing that's been done can ever be changed. |
Great pics and fun thread. I've read Rain Lilies (Zephyranthes) don't like to be overwintered out of soil in colder zones. Do you ow potted? Dry? How about Pineapple Lilies (Eucomis)? Evan |
jmorth Sep 23, 2012 11:38 AM CST |
Yes. Most of the tender bulbs I have are grown in pots/containers that are overwintered dry (in their pots) in the basement. Exceptions are the dahlias and Abyssinian Glads. Other colored Rain Lilies - ![]() ![]() Nothing that's been done can ever be changed. |
Do you know if Eucomis mind being stored dry out of soil? Evan |

Not sure, mine have always been stored dry in pot in basement over winter; come spring, may or may not be re-potted. Nothing that's been done can ever be changed. |

No pictures but the are Lily of the Valley and Sego Lily our state flower which isn't happy in a garden. I think it may also be called Mariposa Lily. Paul Smith Pleasant Grove, Utah |
