I started growing 4 different bonsai's - Picea Mariana, Pinus Aristata, Pinus Thunbergii, and Jacaranda Mimosifolia - and the Jacaranda hasn't sprouted while all the others have sprouted at least 2 already. It's been a little over 2 weeks and I'm wondering what went wrong during the germination process. I still have half the seeds left and I'm going to try again within the month if there's no progress. If anyone has any idea of what happened or any tips for growing bonsai's or helping with the germination of Jacaranda's please let me know! :) |

How are you germinating your seeds? There are a few methods used for different seeds that are easy and some others that are problematic. NOT A EXPERT! Just a grow worm! I never met a plant I didn’t love.✌ |

I lightly scratched the surface of the seeds, soaked them for 16 hours, kept them out of light for the first 3 days, and watered them everyday. There might be something I've left out but I'm fairly certain I got it all :) |

Do you know how old your Jacaranda (Jacaranda mimosifolia) seeds are? Our database information (blue link above) states that for best germination results, seeds should be sown fresh but it doesn't state the length of time seeds are viable. They should be soaked in warm water for 24 hours before sowing and germination should occur in 10-12 days. ~ I'm an old gal who still loves playing in the dirt! ~ Playing in the dirt is my therapy ... and I'm in therapy a lot! |

My Bonsai's are the small ornamental ones you can keep in your home. Do the same rules still apply to mine? Sorry I forgot to mention it early, I'm forgetful... |

Bonsai is an art form where a tree is pruned (sometimes both roots and branches) to keep the tree in a dwarf or miniature form and the branches are wired to form a desired shape. Jacaranda mimosifolia is a tree that like many others can be trained into a Bonsai form, which takes a bit of work, patience and time. This page gives good information regarding Jacaranda mimosifolia Bonsai: https://www.bonsaiempire.com/t... ~ I'm an old gal who still loves playing in the dirt! ~ Playing in the dirt is my therapy ... and I'm in therapy a lot! |
