Starting the February thread with one of my favorites. This little stolonifera type lives up to its name with the sharp spines along the leaf edges. Neoregelia 'Blackberry'

That is a pretty one, too bad it is prickly. My skin is so thin at this stage of my life I try to stay away from plants with spines.

Yummy blueberry, thanks for the Feb. thread Mr. Scott.

Vriesea splendens, the two upper puppers, just let the do their thing, they're a good size now.

Sherri, The V. Splendens looks great. The pups grew fast on mine and I bet they will put on a flower show this year.
I snapped a few photos of this little Neoregelia for the first time today.
This is yet another great hybrid by Skotak.

Those are very nice bands on UFO. All my mini Skotaks are coloring up nicely with these cooler nights.

Vriesea splendens has been a been quite a pleasant performer, especially after killing two of them. Hilarious!

These aren't mine but blooming in my neighborhood where I walk. Quesnelia testudo.

Sherri, Skotak has produced many great hybrids and I do favor his hybrids overall. I have decided to trend down to the smaller hybrids as I believe now that I enjoy them more.

I left a good number of Skotek minis at my last home. Sad

I agree on enjoying the smaller plants, easier to display in my small garden also, the other thing is if we do get a freeze, they're easier to move to my greenhouse. Whistling

Alice, whoever bought your house sure did get some great plants.

Want to guess what the two Neoregelia have in common?

I would like to know what this is.
I know its a Bilbergia LOL but I don;t know which one.
I bought this back around 2003/4 from I think Tropiflora. They had it named 'Bilbergia ROSA'. I guess because of the reddish striations it gets. But as far as I can tell, there IS no cultivar called 'Rosa'.

Then I thought it might be 'rosea' but the photos don;t match.

It is EXTREMELY hardy. It multiplies very readily. It grows in large clumps in my yard and has seen 20F in years past without comment.

It very, very rarely blooms. But one is about to bloom now.

Any ideas on the ID?

Gina, I don't know but it is certainly not 'Rosea', I have that one and it is a tall large Billbergia. I do like the coloring of it.

Scott, Top plant looks like Grove's Red Tiger Shrug! Not sure about the bottom plant...Do tell.

Here is the top plant with the much larger Groves Red Tiger for size comparison.
More information in a new informative thread that I hope to find the time to start this weekend. Crossing Fingers!

A. Orlandiana 'Reverse Ensign' bloom a bit past peak, starting to seed, but this is as large as both blooms got, half the size of the 'Black Beauty'.

Well I'll be damned. It IS ROSA. I know I had looked before and not found that it was a registered cultivar! And a Beadle to boot! Glad to know I have not had a brain fart with the name for 15 years
