I am hesitating about placing an order online because a high percentage of the photos on the site have thrips. Sometimes a dozen or so, occasionally swamped with them, many photos show no thrips at all. I don't even know how old or new the photos are. I assume all the photos used on the site are their own, of their own blooms. I don't want to ask them about it because that seems rather insulting and rude. Since thrips lay eggs in foliage I'm afraid of introducing them to my garden - I haven't seen any since I moved 3 years ago and started fresh, and they are so very hard to control. Am I being paranoid? It's not like I can't live without a few more iris.

I wpnder if dunking the received iris for 10 minutes in dilute bleach solution would kill all thrips and their eggs.

I wonder the same thing - I'm not sure how deeply into the plant tissue thrips go. The more I read about potential problems with thrips and iris, the more I'm deciding not to order.

Fortunately I don't have thrips on my Irises, but I do have on them my roses. If I could avoid introducing them, I certainly would.
