Well mine started blooming July 13.
And are still blooming

Yes there are lots of different varieties. Look at Plant delights under Lycoris.

They will do well in Alabama.

I've given some to Mom in Indiana, and they have done fine, but don't start until August.

Dahlia's are starting to become the primary blooming flower in my garden now.

These are snipped zinnia's that were nearly spent as flowers. I gather them and then dry them so I can harvest the seed. This time I am saving a custom blend for sowing next spring.

The nice thing about annuals is that once you've got a plant to maturity, you're usually set for seed for the next year, maybe two.

Another blend... I've really enjoyed this collection of flowers this year.

Top, such a lovely collection for seeds! We had so much rain this summer (and it is raining right now again) so many zinnias in my flower bed simply rotted. I am happy with newly bought dahlias (will take pictures later), but those from seeds are still in buds.

My spider lilies are blooming. (Hymenocallis). The are hardy here.
They are not Peruvian daffodils.

Those spider lilies are pretty wild looking, LG!

Zinnia's are still bringing in the butterflies.

I'm glad you like the spider lilies. They are having a good year!

Nice zinnias, Top. The butterflies do love them.

It's hard to believe we are in August already.

Pole beans, this batch should be ready for Thanksgiving.

And my tiny little Cecile Brunner roses, I got 2 free plants from my order. I like the fact they are small and cute, plus this area was storing junk stuff before, it's nice to see something growing for a change. All my cheap peonies go here too. Lol

Plus Rhapsody Clematis on the same wall.

Anya, love your yellow columbine! Do you grow those from seeds? Where do you buy the seeds? I would love to get some and grow them.

Thank you, Karen. Yes, I grow them from seeds, bought them from Park Seeds some years ago:
https://parkseed.com/sunshine-...

Columbines are easy to grow and do fine here. I can collect seeds from my plants if you'd like, hopefully they will give plants with yellow flowers also.

Thanks very much, Anya! If Park seeds does not offer these seeds this winter, I would love to take up on your offer. Can you save some just in case? I took a look at their website and it is sold out for this year. I will check it again when they update their catalog for next year. Do these return year after year or do they reseed?

No problem, Karen. I will try to catch seeds, sometimes I get self-seeded plants but I usually I don't need more columbines. There is no guarantee that the seedlings will be yellow but maybe, we'll see. Columbines are perennials and they overwinter here just fine.

That sure looked like a gladiola in picture #4 - a rather flamboyant one, at that.
