The Database is dangerous - so many beautiful roses that I never knew existed but now seem necessities!

I'm being compulsive about trying to photograph every rose I own this year, because all of those threads I posted in DG are lost to me. I used to go back and use them for research.

Some of my roses have never moved me to take pictures, but I'll try to photograph even those this year. They're mostly hybrid musks, teas, and chinas I bought when Chamblee's used to have their $5 sales at the end of the season. They're all right, but they rarely appeal to me aesthetically to the point that I feel compelled to go inside and get the camera.

Thanks, Porkpal. I am too, especially when the two Sues (Calif_Sue and Kniphofia) post their photos. We have to get more people to start contributing. Mike and Vicky, to name just two, have beautiful photographs that they absolutely must enter into the database. Then in winter we can just browse through the entries for hours on end and dream of spring.

Zuzu...we've been very busy enjoying every bit of the last leg of summer while we can before the long, dark days of winter descend upon us.
The kids will be back to school in just a few weeks! YIKES!
Hard to believe.

And is it sweltering hot? As I recall, the first week back to school here is usually the hottest week of the year. Poor kids. This year, though, we're staying at 78-82 degrees and maybe even cooling down a little next week.

Last week was very hot, lots of humidity. It started raining yesterday afternoon and rained all of today. Temp in the high 60 to low 70's. Really nice weather. I love it!! Hurray!

Today rain this morning and fog on the trip to Lexington, than it dried out and than it warmed up. Moving towards the 90 degree mark.

I'm not ready for snow yet either, but cooler weather and no humidity would be nice. Rolling on the floor laughing

More great additions to the database! I especially appreciate it when there are several photos of the same rose in different stages of maturity.

(A rose named Guy de Maupassant shouldn't be pink.)

I assume she meant that the name 'Guy', should be a manly red or something, not a girlie pink. Hilarious!

I think my roses need the services of a much better photographer. I grow several of the roses that Vicky just entered into the database - but they don't look like hers. Wow! Lovely photos of beautiful roses.

Vicky's pictures always send me to dreamland. They always did. When I joined Dave's Garden 5 or 6 years ago, Vicky was leaving, but I found all of her threads of photos and pored over them for hours. It was very exciting when she came back.
